Central Corridor light rail construction promises I-35W ramp headaches

Categories: Commuting

Patience, people. Patience.
The Central Corridor light rail project forges ahead. Starting tomorrow, that means headaches for car commuters on I-35 downtown.

Starting Wednesday, the Fourth Street ramp near the Metrodome to southbound I-35W will close until July. The alternate route is the entrance ramp from eastbound Washington Avenue to southbound I-35W.

Then, on April 4, the ramp from northbound I-35W to the Washington Avenue East Bank exit will close until the end of November next year. You've been warned. Plan accordingly. And check out other links to other construction details below the map.

Thank you. This is the first piece of usable information I've found online about this construction. The Metro Council's info page is clogged with useless links and the construction site signage is visible to stalled traffic only if you're in a helicopter (when you've just spent twenty minutes moving half a block while sitting behind a semi, it's kind of hard to figure out what you need to do when you finally reach the intersection.

And a very special FUCK YOU TO ALL THE ASSHOLES WHO INSIST ON TURNING LEFT (and an even more special fuck you to the city for not shutting off the turn arrow cycle on lights at intersections that have been reduced to single lane traffic).

Construction workers have taken to helping traffic negotiate hopelessly tangled intersections. I have yet to see one single cop in a safety vest directing traffic.

Worst construction project ever, and I'm a light rail supporter.
