Lucas Baiano makes Tim Pawlenty's over-the-top campaign ads
| Lucas Baiano turned T-Paw into an action hero. |
Lucas Baiano made those things.
The Canadian-born film maker is all of 23 years old. And his last big political job was promoting Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential race.
Pawlenty's not-yet-official presidential campaign sounds pleased about the way Baiano's work has attracted attention for their guy. After all, it's no small feat turning a classically dull politician into someone who looks like he could give Harrison Ford a run for his money in the Temple of Doom.

And they're pretty jazzed that satirists like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have mocked the spots, on the theory that bad PR is better than no PR at all.
"Wow! Tim Pawlenty may not be running for president of the United States, but he is clearly running for president of the next Transformers movie," Colbert yowled recently. "The epic scale of this thing is incredible. It makes Pawlenty seem almost life-size."
We probably shouldn't read too much into Canadian-born Baiano's step from Hillary Clinton to Tim Pawlenty, though. True, he pitched to former President Bill Clinton at a meet and greet in early 2008, leading to his work on Hillary's campaign:
And from there, he took a job with the Republican Governors Association for a 90-second hit job on President Barack Obama.
But from the looks of his bio, he's happy to be a hired gun for anyone with a solid bank account. Nestle Canada, Ontario Travel, Petro-Canada, and the United Nations are all former clients.
And it remains to be seen whether Pawlenty can capitalize on all the attention enough to be anything more than an also-ran for the Republican nomination.
