Mark Dayton: WCCO insulted Minnesota with radio deal

Dayton disses the "Good Neighbor"
It was pretty clear yesterday that Gov. Mark Dayton felt like he was getting dissed by the five news organizations that offered him a weekly radio show. None offered him the audience and reach he thought he deserved.

Today he singled out WCCO-AM for particular scorn because it had "afforded two previous governors the opportunity to be at a decent hour and decided not to extend that same opportunity to me."

Those two governors were Jesse Ventura and Tim Pawlenty, both whom held down Friday morning shows. WCCO offered Dayton Saturday instead.

Dayton carped to the Star Tribune:

"I think it's insulting to the people of Minnesota who are being denied the chance to have a conversation with their governor that they had with their previous two governors. I think it shows a lack of concern, which I think is incumbent on people who use public airwaves and public radio and television transmission bands.... to bring decision makers to the people and the fact that they've done so for the previous 12 years and won't continue that, I think is very unfortunate."

WCCO brass told MinnPost that its Saturday audience numbers are similar to those on Friday, but Dayton obviously felt he was being pushed into a less-than-equal timeslot.

While this tempest brews, WCCO is dealing with another black eye to its reputation: The University of Minnesota announced today it's pulling the plug on its deal with the radio station to broadcast Golden Gopher sports.

Who the heck would want to listen to radio that supported Jesse and Tim? They were HORRIBLE!!!

Dayton has his own set of flaws, and the new stadium is one of them. Our state can't afford it. He promised to save money for the state and has turned around to make us bleed money we don't even have.

Time to get competent people in office. The charade has gone on long enough.........

I go way back to "The Hobbs House" ..No more 'cco' for me. AM 950 is winning!!!

Facts you should know about Jesse Ventura

- Ventura lied about being a Navy SEAL on active duty. He joined the SEAL Reserves after active duty. (Page 102).- He lied about being in Vietnam. He told Dennis Anderson of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that “you haven’t hunted until you’ve hunted man”. Ventura was never in combat and he never hunted man.- Bribed a candidate on July 17, 1998 so he could run unopposed in the Reform Party and keep his radio show. I think Wcco Radio is clearly becoming pro conservative and I will consider tuning them out since I am not being given the same Friday morning opportunity to listen to our governor that I over the past decade. Again Wcco has made changes to its format thatI do not serve all of it's listeners.

Waa Waa Waa!Typical lib; Have something handed to them, and cry that it's not good enough. This phenomenon must have something to do with eating lead paint chips as a child :)

Hey Mark, how did your "tax the rich" plan work out for the employees at Hutchinson Technologies? 600+ layoffs and they will move their manufacturing plant from Hutchinson, MN to WI. But hey, continue to believe that the Dummycrats know something about "creating jobs".This is only the start people. Wait for the next Dayton/liberal squeeze of the job creators.Watch as more MN jobs and the tax revenue generated by these business transfer to our neighbors.

Wow, he has an apt name--jerk really applies here.

I agree with the comment above from "Kirk the Conservative Jerk." Over ten years, Bush and the Republican Congress did a great job taking Clinton's budget surplus and turning it into a record-breaking debt. They created a lot of jobs by bankrupting the country with two useless wars and deregulating the financial sector. Oh, and I also think we should only tax poor people. Go Republicans!
