Michele Bachmann blames reporters for her American Revolution gaffe

Just the other day, Rep. Michele Bachmann single-handedly relocated the opening battle of the American Revolution from Massachusetts to New Hampshire. Journalists took note. Embarrassing headlines were written.

Now Bachmann, who has previously funked the history of slavery, the Founding Fathers, and even the Charge of the Light Brigade, is playing the victim card.

She says that if President Barack Obama had gone to New Hampshire and said, "You're the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord," journalists would never have reported the epic gaffe.

Bachmann reports on her own gaffe, along with the mainstream media.
"All 3,400 members of the mainstream media are part of the Obama press contingent," she complained on the Laura Ingraham show -- while displaying an impressive flair for detail about the precise number working journalists in the world. [Listen here.]

It's just not fair, she said. On the 2008 campaign trail, Obama thought 10,000 people, rather than about a dozen, had died in Kansas tornadoes. He managed the geographically impossible feat of stumping for votes in 57 states. Where was the mainstream media then?

Reporting the gaffes, as it turns out.

Those exaggerated tornado deaths? Fox News, the largest cable news channel in America, carried the story. The 57 states quip? You can find it right here in the Los Angeles Times.

Michele Bachmann can't even get her double standards right.

Another pointless rant from Kirk, I guess.

Apparently, much like much the "birther" remarks from Huckabee and Gingrich, it's not that Republicans SAY crazy and blatantly wrong things - it's that the media REPORTS those things that they say.

As for the "57 states" remark, the hyperbole over this is amazing. There are more than 50 (Democratic) presidential primaries/caucuses, because the territories and possessions are allowed to participate.

Ah, sounds like she has heeded the mantra of the liberal. Were all victims! Victims of our society, our culture, our globalization, and now apparently now "the media bias".

Well Michele, thanks for being "captain obvious". Any idiot can see the difference between questions asked of a Democrat Senator and a Republican on Meet the Press, Face the Nation or Hardball. Softball pitch questions for the Democrats VS. Nolan Ryan questions for the Republicans. The "la ti da" media response to an action by one VS. the sheer scrutiny to the same action by another. Hmmm...

Hey by the way, where is all the "Dooms Day" stories concerning the price of gas?Look back to 2007 under the heading "gas” there was at least 1 "gas causing pain" headline every day in every major news outlet.Or Google - (gas price time: 2007)Compare those stories/headlines to todays. What's changed? Did everybody get rich in the last three years except me? My car still gets 32 MPG the last time I checked.$3.50 gas is $3.50 gas right? What's changed?Bias maybe?

How about George Bush golfing "while a war is going on"!Did you know Obama went golfing last weekend?Bias maybe.

Where did those "war death tolls" go?Remember those?Has Codepink been protesting in front of Obama's personal house? If so, where is the media coverage? What's changed?Bias maybe?

Like I said; "you would have to be an idiot"! Or perhaps that "deaf, dumb and blind kid" with NO memory of yesteryear.

Right! If Michele was truly a "nut job" or a "crazed lunatic", the liberals wouldn't see her a threat. The REDUNDANT negative rhetoric directed in Michele's direction, is proof that the heretics are awaiting further direction for their heresy from their beloved heresiarches. (Obama/Reid/Pelosi)

Kirk, you are not only stupid, but you also have a reading comprehension problem.

I never said that Obama was CORRECT in his "57 states" remark. I said that the criticism of the remark was "hyperbole". Look that word up, genius.

There are 57 primaries and caucuses in the Democratic presidential process.50 states+USVI+N. Mariana+PR+ USVI+American Samoa+Guam+"Democrats Abroad" - and TX has both primary and a caucus.

You want to pretend that someone asked Obama how many states there were, and that he answered "57". That's HYPERBOLE.

The context of his remark was that he was explaining that there was a long way to go in the process. He SHOULD have said "57 primaries and caucuses" but he used the incorrect term "states". He was wrong, and he admitted it. He didn't blame the media or make some lame excuse like Bachmann did.

If I asked you how many fingers are on your right hand, you would most likely say "five".That would be WRONG, because the thumb is a "digit", not a finger. Now, if I used that as "evidence" that you can't count, that would be hyperbole.

However, there is a fundamental difference between the incorrect statement that you have five fingers and an incorrect statement that you have seven fingers. The first indicates that you do not know the difference between a digit and a finger, and the second indicates that you can't count.

Most of this obviously went over your head, because your thought process can't grasp anything more complex than "Obama said there's 57 states!". And you probably are too stupid to hum and walk at the same time.

Pleasure to have ya here todd. Most people here will never go beyond talking points, because that is (the talking point) the depth of their knowledge on the subject. but yet they comment...I would call your "hyperbole" comment correct, but it very much also applies to Ms. Bachmann and the criticism of her.I was poking fun because of your bigoted defense of what I could only presume is your god. (obama) Also todd, calling my rant pointless? It gives detailed comparisons of then to now.And todd, criticizing my comments instead of the premise of the article. Well doing that, you're bound to take a few jabs from this black man.

Also todd, the fingers are also called digits as is the thumb. The difference is the "thumb" has two phalanges rather than three like the other four digits and it's an opposable digit. The "thumb" can and is called a finger; just ask our local Summit Orthopedics. Just called my girl to check, and she asked one of the hand docs. Yes, I am a "jack" of knowledge.

Is any of the third graders in here smart enough to see the open window I just gave for your insults?
