Bruce Daniel Merrill ID'd as bike rider struck in hit-and-run

Now we know the name of the bicycle rider who was seriously injured in that hit-and-run crash late Wednesday night. He's 58-year-old Bruce Daniel Merrill, and he's still in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.
One mystery is solved but another remains.
The man's leg was crushed, among other injuries, after the crash near 14th and Lyndale Avenue North. He wasn't carrying any ID at the time, which stymied the police investigation.
Now there's a remaining mystery: Who was driving the car that took Merrill out, and what kind of car was it? So far, it doesn't appear that anyone saw the crash happen.
