Cabbie carjacker was shot and killed by cops [UPDATE]
The man who carjacked a Red & White cab yesterday morning in the Lowry Hill Tunnel was shot dead by police when they caught up with him after a high speed chase that ended along I-35E in the northern suburbs.

His name hasn't been made public yet, but BCA superintendent Dave Bjerga said the suspect had a gun in his hand when he got out of the cab.
Six officers at the scene, from the Minnesota State Patrol, Brooklyn Park and Minneapolis police, were put on administrative leave after the confrontation.
The chase started at about 5 a.m. Thursday when the suspect pulled out a gun in the cab as its driver entered the Lowry Tunnel. He robbed the driver, ordered him out of the car and took off.
The carjacking ended on I-35E.
About 40 minutes later, after a chase that wound through side roads and eventually onto the interstate, police using road spikes forced the cab off I-35E and into a ditch, near the I-35W split at about 180th Street.
That's where the carjacker got out of the cab and was shot.
UPDATE: KSTP has identified the dead carjacker as 28-year-old Jason Barsness, of Cass Lake.
