Kimberly Yeong Sil Hull to be memorialized by fellow cyclists tonight

Hull was just weeks away from graduating at the U of M.

The memorial bike ride has become somewhat of a tradition in the Twin Cities. Advocacy website Mpls Bike Love has helped organize similar rides in the past, including one in 2008 that followed a rash of cyclist deaths. In May 2009, bicyclist Dennis Dumm was tragically hit by a car and killed the day of the "Ride of Silence."

Last Thursday, student Kimberly Yeong Sil Hull was biking south on 15th Avenue Southeast, near the University of Minnesota, when a dumptruck took a turn on Fourth Street and crashed into her. Medics tried to revive her with CPR, but Hull died on scene.

She was just a couple weeks away from finishing her degree at the U of M.

Creator of the memorial ride Kyle Torfin was not available for comment, but says on the Facebook page for the event that he didn't know Hull.

Cyclists will ride by the scene if the accident 25 times -- one for every year of Hull's life.

so, who am i and why am i doing this? i'm no one of significance in audrey's life; i'm just a minneapolis-area bike commuter who was deeply saddened by this tragedy. i didn't know audrey, but hope that many of her friends and/or family and other twin cities cyclists will show up to honor her. may she rest in peace.

So far, more than 300 riders have said they plan to attend on Facebook. The ride will begin at Van Cleve Park and loop around the scene of the accident 25 times, one for every year of Hull's life.

Riders are encouraged to wear all white, and something cat-themed, writes Torfin on the Facebook page. "Audrey's friends have said that Audrey would be very amused by this."
