Rev. Eric Dykstra's Crossing Church offers 3-D TV bribes

The Rev. Eric Dykstra says he's not above "bribing people with crap."
The Rev. Eric Dykstra doesn't feel like The Greatest Story Ever Told has done a good enough job attracting people to his Crossing Church in Elk River, so he's become an electronics pitch man.

The church is giving away $8,000 worth of 3-D televisions and game consoles in a lottery open to anyone who walks through the church's doors Easter weekend to see if they want to buy what Dykstra's selling.

"I have no problem bribing people with crap in order to meet Christ," Dykstra told KARE 11. "What we've done is said, 'Hey, if you bring your friend to church, they might potentially win a 3-D television, a 3-DS or a 3-D movie ticket package.'"

churchbribe4.jpg
The way of the Samurai.
"You may not remember the part of the Beatitutes where Jesus went all Oprah on his disciples and miraculously presented them with 3-D TVs, but Dykstra has unlocked Christ's long-hidden secret message of raw consumerism. He's also discovered another little-known fact about everyone's favorite first-century Jewish carpenter: he may have been known as the Prince of Peace, but dude was secretly a Master Samurai.

On the church's website, in a section called "The Code Of The Samurai," visitors are told that, "Average people take what they can get, hoping to contribute as little as possible," and, "Average people live in fear that they will not have enough."

And what better way to appeal to "average" people than with "crap" like a fancy new TV they can show off to the neighbors? Better yet, if they follow "master Samurai Jesus," they will be "blessed" with plenty more where that came from.

Whatever Dykstra's selling, there are buyers. His church has grown from a few hundred members to 3,000 in six years.

@ megbugge@fd34343dc312e1592eacd902be5a0acb:disqus Oh, good they "have baptisums"- and wow, the pastor went all the way to stillwater (whew, long drive huh?).  You may want to reevaluate the direction of your faith before it is too late.   My pastor performs the rite of baptism, and my Lord and Savior died for my salvation.   I don't go to church to listen to a rock band and because the people are cool.  I am not judging, i am attempting to help you see that the Lord Jesus is the way, NOT ERIC DYKSTRA.

i had a friend who won season tickets to the vikings from the crossing and they refused to give him the tickets, so to say the least he never attended again.

My son is the 18 year worship pastor at the Crossing in Elk River MN under the leadership of Eric and Kelly Dykstra. Please read our family testimony on how in 6 months we went from being an intact good family to now losing our beloved son. onemothersjourney7.blogspot.co...

I hope the people that are winning these gifts are paying taxes on them? Its pretty sad when the message doesn't get them in so they have to bribe them. Where is an example of this in Scriptures? Pretty sick! And whats up with Kelly being a co pastor and women elders. This is not scriptual but who cares at this place. Its all about Eric and Kelly and seeing how big they can grow the place. They have quite the ego and are very controling. Any one that might plan to go there be very carefull.

Eventually, all REAL, thinking people of faith have to accept the reality that most disgusting, satanic, and morally degenerate beliefs have a solid basis in Christian scripture.

Violence, slavery, and yes, gender inequality.  The 3 inarguably greatest evils humankind has dreamed up.  All A-OK in Christian scripture.

Just because it's in your book doesn't mean you're not doing satan's work.

This place for people who don't do church is a very loose example of what a church should be. A Church should be a place where Christians go to worship and are trained to go out and tell others about Jesus. Its not suppose to be a place where people who practice sin hang out because it fun, as one put it, its like going to a rock concert every Sunday. If you like to here the Lord referred to as dude (irreverent) have him use words like ass, shit, f bomb and when talking about sex use words like humping, banging, and getting laid then this might be the church for you.

A place that trains people to spread their ideology is not a church.

The nature of the ideology is immaterial; what you're talking about is called a "terrorist training camp."

"This church is crap"? Really? Have you ever been there?  The Crossing Church is a church that I'm proud to be a member of.  I hope you are a proud member of a church, any church.  After all it's not about the house that you visit to learn about how to follow Jesus, it's that you take the time to visit at all.  Peace be with you.

This place is an obvious cult. Ive got friends, and even recently a sibling who go to this place, and they all come back saying the same thing.. " You have to go to this place, the pastor is so cool ,he has tattoos and swears, and there is an awesome rock band in the church, etc, etc, etc" My sister even told me they encourage people to take money from the donation basket if they need the extra money.... If that in itself isnt the most absurd thing ive ever heard, I dont know what it is. My once good friend (whom became distant from his friends and family since joining this place) has told me I need to go to this place instead of my own church where I got married in, calling me out on my faith and judging me and my wife for it because we refuse to go the Crossing. He said he believes the world is ending soon, and those that dont have the same beliefs as him and this church will all be going to hell. I also would like to add he was told by Dykstra to come to me and tell me all of this non sense. This "pastor" bribes people with tv's and video game systems, yet when he preaches he comes down on those for utilizing the same things. He doesnt preach the word of God, just the way as he sees it. Its a cult business ran by a couple of looneys who prey on those who unfortunately fall into it. If people want to join   a new and exciting church, I have no problems with it. The problems I have is that everyone that does, is always bugging others who dont go to always go and join like its some kind of pyramid scheme. And if you do a little research on Dykstra, you'll see how much pain he is causing others lives (google 'one mothers journey chapter 18-losing curtis). Dykstra is offensive and radical, did you ever think a pastor during a sermon would brag about his sex life, talk about boobs and say use terms like "banging girlfriends" in his blog? This place is a clear cult and im sorry to those who get roped in.

Bryan- do you know the whole story to this:(google 'one mothers journey chapter 18-losing curtis). Do you know the family? I don't find that Dykstra had anything to do with that situation. Hey you know what, at least he is upfront with what he's doing and what direction he is taking with the church. There are alot of shady churches out there that speak and all they do is judge or churches that talk down at you and not to you.which deters people in general from going to church. I have been at this church for awhile now and they are not a cult. A cult is an organization that doesn't let people leave :Jim Jones was that man, not Dykstra. People have free will to think whatever and disagree to whatever, but obviously you have never been there and only relied objectively on interpreted opinion-which isn't always reliable. So before you wave your hands like a good Christian man and point fingers- whispering cult, cult, cult like a crazy person-visit the church. Maybe you will have a different opinion.

I agree with you. that cocksucker dykstra and his dumb cunt wife got my wife Robin Higgins cought up in their bullshit. They brainwashed her into giving them alot of money that we do not have, buying a bunch of the crossing propaganda junk, and countless cd,s of his bullshit word. I have tried every thing I can think of to get her out and now she has left me for their shitty cult and has broken up our marrage.

Actually Pastor Eric is an amazing leader of a church that promotes Jesus in the Elk River community like no other has had the courage to do. What makes his job really hard is when other Christian's try to tear him down rather than spreading the hope of Jesus to the unreached people. If you knew someone far from God, would you spend $8000 at a chance they would start to consider Jesus. Apparently it worked, well over 100 gave Jesus the keys to their life that weekend alone. Do you feel a life is worth $800 of your money??

I can certainly tell you're delusional. No one thinks they're in a cult, but all the signs are there .... it's sad that so many people have fallen for this .... I'll be praying for you.

Wow! This sound's like a business bribery play pandering for customers. Using the words "crap" and "Christ" in the same sentence? "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." - 2 Corinthians 11:14
