"How many more gay people does God have to create?" A defining moment: Comment Of The Day

steve simon cap.jpg
Steve Simon's question, caught on video, has gone viral.
Right before the Republican-controlled House Civil Law Committee approved a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, DFL Rep. Steve Simon asked a simple question:

"How many more gay people does God have to create before we ask ourselves if he wants them around?"

Commenter Brent Haugen called it a defining moment.

I attended the hearing and heard Steve Simon first hand. All I can say is that there are defining moments in everyone's life--this was one for him. He was honest, sincere and truly understands why the marriage amendment bill should not go through. He was the only speaker that received applause throughout the whole session.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

The legislation will put the proposed amendment on the 2012 election ballot.

Steve Simon's comment reveals profound ignorance and is as easy to dismantle as any argument could be. The only necessary response to show how SUPID his remarks are is:Hey Steve, how many pedophiles does God have to create in order for us to realize He wants them here? Fill in the blank with whatever you want. How many Osama Bin Laden's, Hitler's, Liars, Muderers, etc. It doesn't matter. The point is that the homosexual choice is what it is: a choice! It always has been, and it always will be. What a stupid rationalionization! And what is worse is that people couldn't see the absudity of his remarks immediately. A friend told me about it and it took about a nano second for me to retort. Good grief!

Of course!I sure Brent got a tingly feeling up his leg when hearing this. (or tingly somewhere)Hey Brent, did you and the gallery also lick your lips and blow Steve a kiss? And applause? The wicked will always applaud an act of wickedness. Nothing special about that.

"How many more gay people does God have to create? God did not create gay people Steve, evil did.

Romans 1:21-27 "Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes.""So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen."That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved."

Hmmm. I wonder what the Muslim world would do to you with beliefs and practices like that.Remember this is a religion that will KILL you for a cartoon depicting Allah.Steve, you sir are Demonic!

It's kind of funny because that part of Romans is talking about Idolatry. I denounced Christianity and became a Nichiren Buddhist and I was sure I was Bi-sexual(this wasn't why I chose an atheistic world view, too many blatant contradictions in the bible). Never had trouble getting a girlfriend but was attracted to guys from time to time. I wanted those tendencies gone. Why if homosexuality is the punishment for idolatry that only by becoming an Atheist(as a Buddhist) was I able to totally eliminate those tendencies considering that I am fully aware that having an image on the alter and worshiping it(such as I do with my Gohonzon, not to mention all the other religions in the world that have an image or a statue on their alter such as Wiccans or Hindus) is Idolatry? We should just do away with marriage altogether, the only people who would whine would be the Christians...then nobody could complain about gay marriage. People should be able to marry whoever they choose to. I am so happy to practice godless religion and be my own higher power. Denouncing Christianity was the best thing that ever happened to me!!! Seems like nonsense because if homosexuality was the punishment for idolatry, then why are there so many married Hindu couples? Why are there so many straight Wiccans? On the flip side there are people such as my friend who will not look at Buddhism(which is one of the most homosexual friendly religions on the planet) or any other religion which would allow him to be gay, cause he clings to Christianity. He has never bowed down before an image(he is Methodist and can't relate to any kind of "idolatry") and he has NEVER been attracted to girls(unlike myself). So Mr. Kirktheconservativejerk up there, please explain that one instead of attacking people who just want us to all get along...the burden of proof lies on you.

Of course you happy to be your own god. That Bible says in unambiguous terms that is what you want. And the funny thing is is that it says it in Romans 1. Thank you for demonstrating that once again, the Bible is correct. Happy delusions!

This is the only argument pro-homosexual supports have. Name calling. Bigots, homophobes, ignorant, etc. How sad and pathetic a response this is.

Your comment reveals you don't even understand what a bigot is. If a person can be a bigot for calling the homsexual choice evil, then one can also be a bigot for calling the group who calls the homsexual choice evil.
