Minnesota Family Council wants "respectful discussion," calls gays urine-drinking pedophiles

Tom Prichard of the the Minnesota Family Council, which says its "truth" isn't personal.
The vote to ban gay marriage in Minnesota is more than a year away, but already, things are starting to get ugly.

The Minnesota Family Council--the organization behind the gay marriage ban--has a document on its website explaining that gay people drink urine, eat feces, and engage in bestiality. Oh, and many pedophiles are gay.

When bloggers pointed out these ugly accusations, the council quickly pulled the documents from its website.

All this yuck comes after the Minnesota House agreed last week to put an amendment to the state constitution on the 2012 ballot. So far, 31 states have passed constitutional gay marriage bans at the polls, including California and Maine. If Minnesota voters choose to shoot down a gay marriage ban, they'll be the first citizens in the nation to do so.

Sunday, as 300 people protested in Loring Park, the man behind the anti-gay-marriage movement explained why people shouldn't be upset.

"[O]ur goal is to not make it personal," said Tom Prichard, president of the Minnesota Family Council. "I think we can have a respectful discussion and conversation on the importance of marriage in our state, where there's widespread support that the best environment to raise children is with a loving mother and father."

Guess Prichard realized it would look pretty bad to call for a "respectful discussion" while simultaneously accusing gays of having sex with animals and children, and treating them like sick people in need of a cure. Here are some choice quotes from the missing document, which purports to be a guide to countering arguments in support of gay marriage:

MFC wants a "respectful" debate, as long as it doesn't have to tell the truth.
7. "We are a legitimate minority, just like those who have won similar protections before us."

7a. Civil rights theory is intended to protect true status, not behavior. What gay rights laws ask for is a special privilege for homosexual behavior not generally available to other groups identified by aberrant behavior--such as those who commit incest, adultery, bestiality, or pedophilia.

8. "Gay people are not different in their behaviors from other people."

8a. Homosexual practices are often astonishing to heterosexual people. Homosexuals must use body apertures not constructed for sexual penetration or bring their mouth into contact with areas designed for the elimination of human waste, which causes serious hygienic and health risks. Some homosexuals become urolagniacs (ingesting urine and feces) and engage in bestiality as well as other deviant behaviors.

8d. The homosexual population includes a disproportionate number of pedophiles. Many prominent homosexuals and organizations have the stated objective to remove age-of-consent laws from state statutes.

We'll see just how "respectful" the discussion stays after all this.

Research has shown that a majority of pedophiles are actually CHRISTIAN, MARRIED, white males...obviously since they have live-in direct access to children...makes sense and is factual ;)

What a bunch of disgusting freaks. I am so ashamed that I am from Minnesota after reading this... I have nothing but the worst thoughts and hopes for anyone affiliated with the Minnesota Family Council. Oh by the way, assholes, "Family" has nothing to do with your twisted pathetic closeted organization. Fuck you.

This just proves that the issue is really about defining marriage as between one man and one woman, doesn't it? It's not at all about hatred of gays, or any kind of religious dogma.

And, yes, that is sarcasm.

"where there's widespread support that the best environment to raise children is with a loving mother and father." Then why aren't they calling to outlaw divorce? Idiots.

Remember if this is passed it will also mean that our domestic partner laws will go out the window.  So all you hetero couples out there who enjoy being on your significant others dental and medical insurance this impacts you too!

As a gay man, I can personally tell you that I have never drank urine, eaten fecses, had sex with an animal or been sexually attracted to children.....never thought I'd have to defend myself of THOSE accusations, but there ya go.

So you acknowledge, it's not about the "marriage".  Cuz, what good is a marriage, without the benefits.

I find it sad that no one has any courage though.Just say; "I want benefits".

Personally I wouldn't defend myself against such bullshit.  Theres no way I'd lower myself by defending against claims that in truth should land these idiots in court themselves explaining why they are inciting hatred.

Could you imagine what would have a happened if that page said black people eat shit or drink urine... or that Jews molest children?Gay marriage is fine... good luck with that. I'm not gay...so I won't be marrying you..lol... but thats the point... it doesn't have any affect on me...its not compulsory!Maybe a move could be made to remove the laws that prohibit atheists from holding public office. (Yes there are laws that stop atheists but not any other minority from holding a public office...regardless of how the public voted!)

I think a bunch of weird guys that sit around thinking about gay men and what they are doing in their bedrooms know a little bit more about being gay than you do buddy.   Imagine the dedication it takes to be straight and sit around all day thinking and obsessing about gay sex.  The Minnesota Family Council has literally written thousands of pages about being gay and gay sex.    What kind of person would do such a thing?   A hero that's for sure.

Ummm, you can't wait to "vote this bullshit down"?Really?Your cause couldn't even come up with 50% of the vote in California to stop the amendment. I mean, come on; you lost in California!

Learn from the lessons being taught around the country.Your only hope is to influence the State Supreme Court after this passes.

What point is there in taking any action... eating, sleeping marrying, farting ...anything at all if there is no benefit...

People generally get married for two reasons... love and mutual benefit!  Can you think of any other reasons? Or should we all agree to divorce one another and just ban the states recognition of all marriage in any form.

That would most certainly sort the whole thing out!

Some hetero people want benefits. Should we interrogate everyone before marriage?I thought you liked small government?

That was in 2008, and the prop only passed by 5%. Gallup just released survey results today showing that (nationally) support for gay marriage has risen 9% since 2008 - a new high. 64% favour it.

Kirk is like all Tea Party Conservatives in that he wants a government so small it can fit in your bedroom.   To guys like Kirk there is nothing more important than what 2 consenting adults are doing in their bedroom.   You see its very important to Tea Party Republicans to know gay people can never be happy because of all the hate we have in our heart.   It's important to make sure gay people suffer from birth to the grave because only then they can feel Christ's love.   Why do you think such obvious hate mongers like Bradlee Dean and The Minnesota Family Council have a place in the Republican Party's big tent?   Republicans know that our job is to mess with gay people every chance we get, that's why we are passing a gay marriage amendment even though gay marriage is already illegal in Minnesota.   When our political leaders show how much they hate gays  this encourages teens to bully gay teens and bigots to attack gay people for being gay.   In the name of Jesus Christ, our savior, amen.
