Uptown has seen a rash of muggings.
Alex Dean Boyce of Minneapolis has been arrested in connection with at least one of the violent muggings plaguing Uptown this spring. Minneapolis police say they took the 19-year-old man into custody yesterday at his home on the 3700 block of Stevens Avenue South.

Boyce is suspected of being involved in an April 28 attack on the 2600 block of Colfax Avenue South in which a lone male walking alone at about 11:45 p.m. was chased by two guys, punched, knocked to the ground, kicked unconscious and then robbed.

We'd post his mug shot, but MPD spokesman Sgt. William Palmer said police aren't making the photo public while the investigation into this attack and other muggings are being investigated.

Last week, two thugs tried mugging Edward Curtis on Pillsbury Avenue in Uptown, but they picked the wrong guy. The 61-year-old former Marine was armed, and he was able to squeeze off a few shots during their attack and scare them away.

Boyce is being held, pending charges from the Hennepin County Attorney's office.
