Minnesota turns 153 today: Still the hippest, gayest, most bike-friendliest state around!

Today is the 153rd anniversary of Minnesota.

On May 11, 1858, our hunk of land was shaved from the eastern half of what was then-called "the Minnesota Territory" and admitted as the 32nd state in the nation.

For an old lady, Minnesota remains quite hip, as we learned this week.

Minnesota is the Most Hipster state in the nation.

Minnesota is the Most Bike Friendly state in the nation.

Minnesota is the New Gayest state in the nation.

And here's 50 reasons why it's great to live here!

So here's to you, Minnesota: keep on truckin'. Or gay biking.

hip, gay and bike friendly - and home to Michelle Bachman and Tim Pawlenty. Most opposite likely state more like. Extremes are our thing.

Yes. Please get that illustration on a T-shirt immediately. (Is that Nevada with the big-boob hooker murderer thing going on? Next to California mugging some other piece of real estate? Iowa smoking a Chesterfield King and being all hatey? Please include all of that, too.) Send one to me. I will pay. I miss Minnesota sooooooo much and would move back if I could just bump a few people off. You know what I mean.

Sadly there is still no Sunday Liquor sales VIA a 100 year old protestant law. Keep up that "progressive" mentality you so boldly talk about all the time Minnesota

One of highest rate of HIV and increasing along with many other social disase. Gang warfare, drugs, terrible drivers. Too much money spend on professional teams and not enough finding solutions to educational problems. Very large money wasting state.

Pssst: I think it was a joke.

Well, in Tennessee they have to sell the booze and the beer in separate stores, so we're not the only ones with arcane liquor laws.

Sounds like a suburbanite who just made up some sh*t.  MN is a low-incidence state compared to the nation in terms of HIV rates.  There's no gang warfare because there are no gangs.  Drugs are a rural issue.  Terrible drivers isn't a ranking.   "Money wasting state" is an opinion.
