Taylor Campione and Kelsi Culpepper hope their story can be a lesson for others.
Earlier today, we reported the story of Taylor Campione and Kelsi Culpepper, two lesbians who were scolded by a security guard at Target Field for a peck on the lips.

Since the story's publication, Campione and Culpepper have been inundated with interview requests from other news outlets. Members of the Twin Cities community have also shown their support on Facebook and Twitter.

Watch as they recount the PDA that got them scolded by a bible-thumping Target Field security guard who told them that they had to adhere to the Ten Commandments in the ballpark (and no "grab ass").

In this video, Taylor Campione (left) and Kelsi Culpepper (right) discuss the origin of the dispute, which happened on May 27 during the Twins-Angels game.

The security guard was given a verbal and written reprimand that will stay in his personnel file, says Kevin Smith, a spokesman for the Twins.

But Campione and Culpepper worry that this is only a short-term solution to a much larger problem. They're filing a complaint with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and want a zero-tolerance policy put in place at the stadium.

I'm glad that you ladies didn't settle for this and blow it off as another ignorant person.  You handled yourselves professionally, but also got your point across.

+10 for gay rights!

The bible is clear on one thing.  God doesnt like lukewarm soup.  And any christian that doesnt assoiciate with someone simply because they are a sinner is an abomination to the very faith they proclaim.  How do you think that people learned about the God?  Because the ones that were in the know reached out to the Godless, they did not judge them.  And reaching out to the Godless is the hardest job of all, because most of them reject you, it happens.  Hence all the challenges to Christians throughout history, like David and the big dude that starts with a G.

Christians, stop judging.  Judgement is not your department, helping your fellow man find salvation is

What people seem to be forgetting is that this was just a quick hug and peck - not engaging in ANYthing offensive if this were a straight couple.  I don't want to see ANYONE make out at a TWINS game, but that was not what was going on here!  And I find it very sad to see this turn into yet another debate about gays, their rights, etc.  I believe in God, but I think the message of LOVE Jesus taught about has been completely sidestepped somehow.  Let's see, where did we find Jesus during his lifetime? He was hanging out with regular, real people, with all of the complications that we today as humans still have. "Religious" people nowadays just want to judge and shun.  How about this quote?  Judge not, so that you will not be judged.  Live and let live, I say!  And as a side-note I am not a member of the youngest generation :-)

There is more to this story than meets the eye.  I work security for the Twins (I am not the guy who confronted the two women)  My son is gay, has a lifelong partner, an adopted baby, and I strongly support gay rights.  I will be voting no on the stupid ammendment.  Having said all that, here is the other side of the story:  fans complained to the security gaurd about the excessive kissing, fondling, etc. and were offended by it.  The security gaurd was referring to the Twins Fan Code Of Conduct and made the stupid mistake of referring to the "10 commandments" because he did not remember what the code was called.  If a man and a women were involved in excessive kissing and fondling to the point of people around them complaining, it is our job to ask them to stop or leave the stadium.  While I do not condone his choice of words, and admit he may be homophobic, I do not think that he responded to one "peck on the cheek" as is being presented by the two women involved.  Let's all learn from this and move on.  Vote no on the ammendment!!!

Brad, you said:  "I hope that there are never any equality for homosexual couples. They deserve the same American rights as anyone, dont try to back me into a corner. "  You've got me confused with this contradictory statement.  Could you clarify?  We deserve the same rights as anyone, but you don't want us to have equality?  That doesn't make sense.

I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, and to live and love whichever way they choose to and make any decision they feel is right for themselves with whatever beliefs they have in their life. I know that alot of people in this forum already dislike me for my comments made and my beliefs that I have, but I believe in what I do, and I make no apologies for them whatsoever. I know what my heart feels just like everyone else, but I have made too many comments on this forum already, and have possibly made enemies in the such which was not my intentions, I truly only wanted to create some good dialogue so both sides of the spectrum had a chance to talk. I hate no one in life, and wish everyone only the best, and yes, I do hope and pray that I can touch as many people's lives that I can with the word of God, but will not go to the point of shoving it down people's throat that dont want it. I simply wish everyone a good day, and a good life, and will continue to pray for this country and all of its leaders to make the best decisions for the people that they can.

Have a great day everyone!

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with two people - any two people - exchanging a quick kiss in public. That should be obvious to all but the religious zealots who feel they can interpret scripture and impose their interpretations on others.

That being said, what's the big deal here? The security guard has been reprimanded. Does anyone think that this is the kind of publicity that the Twins would like to have? I'll bet the security guard or any other venue or Twins employee won't be able to repeat this behavior and keep their job.

I think it is reasonable for the women involved to be angry, and they deserve an apology and free tickets to another game. But why make a federal (or state) case  out of it? The Human Rights Commission? Give me a break. The women have already received national publicity that will likely reverberate throughout Major League Baseball and other venues where patrons should be treated as valued customers.

I think it is reasonable for the guard involved to be reprimanded, but not fired. He needs to not repeat his offensive behavior. His personal opinions are his own business, and he needs to learn that it is not appropriate to impose his own moral beliefs on others in his workplace, or anywhere else for that matter.

The women can reasonably expect that the national publicity generated by this incident will influence the behavior of others. But changing the way people think about issues such as this is probably a stretch. Opinions are harder to change than behavior. Hopefully this incident will be one of many that will gradually add up in the public consciousness, and opinions will eventually change. Since the women were only offended, but not actually harmed, that is the best they should hope for... along with some free tickets and beer.

I hope this incident will lead to some clarification of policy there and at other employers as well.  I'm glad the guard was disciplined; I don't actually believe he should have been fired outright, because that would not have done as much to help him grow away from his own bigotry.  Perhaps he will have learned something from this; let's hold out hope for him.  I have to admit I might have reacted in a less civil manner than these two exemplary ladies in the video.  Thank you both!  Naturally, I will continue to feel free to kiss anyone I wish in public, without making a big deal of it; I'm not a big PDA guy either.

Francis,

I hope that there are never any equality for homosexual couples. They deserve the same American rights as anyone, dont try to back me into a corner.

and what does this mean, I would like you to explain what it means, I just dont know what you meant by this.... Francis stated, "Based on Biblical verses they take out of context, and which they thump and flaunt, to justify their bigotry. Funny in a sick way."

Hey hey hey! NOT ALL CHRISTIANS are like that!!! Its idiots like that that make the rest of us look bad! I am a very Christian young woman and when I look at people I do not see sexual preference, I don't see skin color, I don't see anything but what they're doing and how they treat others/me (if they're talking). You should take your own advice.

I can see how you got this idea, but NOT ALL "religious" people judge and shun. Aren't you being hypocritical by saying this? I'm one of those "religious" people and I accept everyone just how they are! Ugh.

there is no discussion with long winded bible bangers like you because you don't listen.  you keep mumbling about how "everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs" and then when someone say they believe in being gay you say, "your wrong because it says in Leviticus".  You are a fucking idiot.  Now shut up and go away before someone does ram something down your throat.

Dudeman Mcduderson
Dudeman Mcduderson

Keep in mind there is no video of the event nor input from others who saw it, just their word that it was a "quick kiss".  As far as we know it could have been a half-minute tongue-battle that the old guard would have commented on to any couple (though I doubt it was).  His biblical justification is still in the wrong, but aside from that I don't think we can really call for more or less punishment from what there is of evidence of the offense.

You say "I hope gay people never have equality." Your HATE is based on Biblical verses. That you take out of context and that you pick and choose to believe to justify your hate. Like Leviticus, which is a Jewish purity code, not even Christian. I sure don't see people stoning adulterers or misbehaving kids, but it's OK to think gay people are an abomination (doesn't say anything about lesbians) based on a Leviticus verse. You're a sick person, pure and simple.

After reading all your posts on here, tankernav, I have only one question.........what is so inherently harmful about two women giving each other a peck on the lips.  Please give us a real answer.

Don't give me any religious/mythological answer, just give me a straight, logical response.  No using God to justify your immoral prejudices, please.

I dont HATE anyone, I hope people who know me know that at the very least. I dont "pick and choose" Bible verses that will fit the occasion, I can't help that it is right there in the Bible, but I would look kind of foolish if I would have picked out a verse like John 3:16 which starts "For God so loved the world..." because it doesnt fit the subject at hand, so yes, to that degree I have to "choose" the right verse. In reference to stoning adulterers and the kid thing, any sin, is a sin in the sight of God, I am not making the gay thing to be worse, a sin is a sin, again, the topic of gay people are what we are talking about which is why we started communicating. Please stop putting words into my mouth, I never stated that Gay people are worse sinners. Now, thinking that I am a sick person, pure and simple is just not necessary. I dont know you which means I cannot hate you, even if I knew you, I wouldnt hate you, that I know that I can say, that is just the kind of person that I am, but I am entitled to my opinions just as you are, so I was hoping to have a good discussion when I joined this. Francis, dont know if that is your real name, never-the-less, if it is alright with you, I would like to include you in my family's daily prayers as I want to include the person from the comments above named Johnny steelman, because of the Bible verse that i mentioned above.... John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. i truly believe in Gods love for me, you, and everyone who wishes to have God in their life, so if you dont mind, I would like to include you in my prayers.

jh: you assume HATE from my comment. I was only making an observation. In the Middle East they stone gays, jews and christians. To their 7th century culture they don't make a difference between either.

I care about everyone and don't understand what our foreign policy is in the Middle East.

Guy, if I didnt know you better than these posts, I would say that you were like me, a Christian, because you do know parts of your Bible!!! I appreciate your comments, and by the same means you too seem like a terrific person. I cannot agree with you more with what you said. There are "radicals" on the religious side just like any other side, and they are people who do not represent christianity at all in my eyes. Yes, the Bible does state things like that, one verse is as follows: Matthew 5:44  "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"; I think that was probably one of what you were talking about. I do NOT approve of harming others or violence in the name of God, because that is NOT what Christ wants from us, he wants to love everyone as tho they are our brother and sister. I am not part of nor would I be part of the violet sort of religon. That is not religon, that tends to be swayed as cult or radical islam, things like that. I truly wish that we could get along better that what we already are, and i wish that people who dont believe would just allow the fact that this country was built on religious principles and by believers in Christ, and that religon and Christ will come up in legal matters, and in school, and at the courthouse, because that is our country. if it werent for the freedom to religon, this country woundnt have been formed. Thanks for commenting Guy, I appreciated your feedback, and look forward to anything else you may want to say.

Guy
Guy

Brad, you seem like a nice guy, and I believe that you don't actually hate gays. But you have to realize that the same anti-gay attitudes that you are professing have caused others to physically harm and even murder gay people or verbally harass gays to such a degree that they resort to suicide. That doesn't seem so Christian. You'd be hard-pressed to find many accounts of gays returning the violence that has been inflicted upon them. I think there's a story you might know about a guy who taught people to always turn the other cheek and love thine enemy. Like I said, you seem like a kind and genuine person, but you are part of a wider ignorance that is keeping our society from progressing toward a more peaceful future.
