Gacy lived in Waterloo for only 2-3 years before being arrested for sodomy and sentenced to ten years in prison. He was born and raised in Chicago and moved back there after getting parole. All his murders took place in Chicago. Can't expect City Pages to read Wikipedia I guess.

The worst part of Michele Bachman's "John Wayne" comment may be the fallout over his 1971 interview in Playboy. In a 1971 Playboy interview, Wayne said: "We can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership to irresponsible people." One author sought to minimize it by saying it was said during a time that society was more tolerant of politically incorrect speech. That is a stretch. There are and have been scholarly gifts bestowed upon us by blacks throughout history. Remember George Washington Carver? Racism is not specific to a time in society, a place on the earth, or a culture in the world. It is common to all of us and all times in history. John Wayne was racist. She may have unwittingly lost the black vote. But more telling is she has reinforced the notion that she misspeaks, is culturally uninformed, and incapable of appropriately leading the diverse demographic in this nation.

It's amazing how you liberal loons jump all over Congress woman Bachmann over a minor speaking error. When the Obama/Biden circus makes daily speaking errors that are even more laughable. Such as 57 states, corpse instead of corps, and mixing up veterans day and memorial day. What makes them more laughable is a majority of the time Obama and Biden are reading off of a teleprompter.

Presidential hopeful Rep. Michele Bachmann announced her candidacy for the nation's highest office yesterday from her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa.

Bachmann managed to ruffle liberal feathers even with this simple declaration. Speaking to Fox News, Bachmann noted, "John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."

John Wayne's parents met in Waterloo Iowa, and the actor was born in nearby Winterset. The liberal press was quick to note the distinction between Waterloo and Winterset, and then brought executed Chicago area mass murderer John Gacy into the conversation.

Twin Cities alternative publication City Pages, for example, noted that Gacy was born in Waterloo. City Pages then included this misleading half-truth in an article it ran on the John Wayne/John Gacy/Waterloo link yesterday:

"After spending less than two years in prison for sodomy, he [Gacy] went back to Waterloo, then brutally raped and murdered 33 boys and young men over a period of six years, stashing the bodies in crawl spaces, his basement or dumping them in a river. He was executed in 1994."

City Pages somehow fails to note that these murders occurred hundreds of miles away in the Chicago area--not in Waterloo, Iowa, as City pages would lead one to believe.

Somehow, one gets the impression City Pages won't be correcting their story.

Thanks for the post. CP is careful enough to say that Gacy was "from" Waterloo, not "born" there. He was a fixture of Waterloo society and convicted of sex crimes there, so it's at least somewhat forgivable to say that he's "from" Waterloo even though he wasn't born there. But CP definitely can't say that he "went back to Waterloo, then brutally raped and murdered 33 boys," because he did that in the Chicago area.

Dems will do anything for opposition research. Here is a case where Michele Bachmann was born in Waterloo. John "The Duke" Wayne's parents lived in Waterloo but had moved before the Duke was born. It is easy to postulate that some pride of place led to a story that John Wayne was born in Waterloo and this story could have been part of provincial lore.

Only Weiner-loving perverts would use Gacy's birth place in association with Rep. Bachmann.

Clinton plead guilty to perjury in Arkansas for lying about his molestation of a teenager (he gave up his law license to avoid jail time). Edwards was guilty of having a baby from an affair during his Democratic Primary. He is now being tried but has already admitted the affair, the bastard child and the pathetic a$$hole that all democrats are! Al Gore stole billions telling lies about Polar Bears and global freezing (70's) then global warming (recently) then to climate change. He used our tax dollars to fund "Research" at three universities that made up the data. he needs to be tried and hung!
