Rolling Stone eviscerates Michele Bachmann

Rolling Stone: Don't laugh at Bachmann, or the joke's on you.
Rolling Stone has uncorked a hit job on Rep. Michele Bachmann that suggests just how utterly buffaloed the national press has become by her presidential campaign.

Just today, for example, the New York Times devotes dozens of uncritical column inches to her mothering abilities. The Washington Post has admired her posture. And the Los Angeles Times approves of her empathetic nature--based on what she tells Sean Hannity.

But reporter Matt Taibbi hasn't been drinking the same Kool-Aid--his was spiked with bile.

And he targets Bachmann, "brandishing her pearls and her ageless, unblemished neckline and her perfect suburban orthodontics," with all the finesse of a very pissed off bull in a china shop. She speaks with:

A pattern of God-speaks-directly-to-me fundamentalism mixed with pathological, relentless, conscienceless lying. ... She is at once the most entertaining and the most dangerous kind of liar, a turbocharged cross between a born bullshit artist and a religious fanatic, for whom lying to the infidel is a kind of holy duty.

Liberals will clap their hands and nod their heads at what Rolling Stone has accomplished here. Conservatives, on the other hand, will read this stuff, roll their eyes, and chalk it up to further proof of an evil liberal conspiracy to victimize the poor, defenseless Christian lady.

But they know the same thing Taibbi knows: Bachmann wins elections, and the more you laugh at her, the stronger she gets.
