Bachmann: Obama would be a "dictator" to invoke 14th Amendment [VIDEO]

Pay no attention to the doomsday clock in the lower left.
In an interview with CNN this morning, Michele Bachmann reiterated her fringe position that it's no big deal if the U.S. hits its debt ceiling, which will happen midnight Aug. 2 unless Congress and Barack Obama can strike a last-minute deal.

Bachmann claims the only acceptable answer is for the government to dramatically cut spending -- which is more of a political point, and not an actual solution to the debt ceiling crisis.

As the deadline looms, some frustrated Democrats are calling for Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment, which governs U.S. public debt, and raise the debt ceiling unilaterally. When that idea came up, Bachmann dusted off some Tea Party rhetoric.

"The president is prohibited to do that," Bachmann said. "If he had the power to do that he would effectively be a dictator."

This is a pretty strong indictment, especially coming from someone whose reaction to first meeting George W. Bush, Mr. Executive Power himself, was to shower him with kisses and stroke him like... well, like some sort of king.

So when Bush pulls rank to fight the "war on terror" by taking Pakistani kids to Cuba and poking them with a stick, he becomes a Godlike figure. When Obama tries to avert the U.S. defaulting on its debt, he's a dictator. Got it.

The critical section of the 14th Amendment, for those of you who don't read the Constitution every morning like Congresswoman Bachmann, reads like this:

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."
And if you must know, Michele Bachmann calling Barack Obama a dictator sounds like this:
