Uptown resident looks for missing Sonic the Hedgehog doll

This poster is heartbreaking in more ways than one.
Sonic the Hedgehog is missing in Uptown.

When Kyle Coughlin first saw the poster stapled to a telephone poll near an alley at Pleasant Ave. and 22nd St., he thought it was a joke.

"I've seen a few of those fake ones, and I assumed it was one of those," Coughlin said.

Coughlin took a step closer, and realized that the poster was real.

"When I read it," Coughlin said, "it actually looked like someone lost their favorite Sonic the Hedgehog doll and was attempting to find it.

The text under poster says:

"Small, plush Sonic the Hedgehog doll. Possibly fell out of vehicle in this neighborhod. REWARD if returned, of great sentimental value. 612.839.4006 - Please leave a message."

How exactly Sonic fell out of a moving vehicle is not clear. Maybe another night of wild drinking with Zelda and Blanka from Street Fighter. Given the way Sonic used to roll at high speeds, he may have traveled hundreds of miles and collected thousands of dollars in gold rings by now.

Coughlin said he doesn't feel any special attachment to Sonic these days, but was pretty fond of him at one time.

"It was one of my favorite Sega Genesis games," he said.

Earthworm Jim has not been ruled out as a suspect in Sonic's disappearance.
