Larsin has a long history of car-related crimes.
Gregory Larsin, the 21-year-old driver who allegedly killed a 78-year-old St. Paul man and drove off, was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter yesterday in Ramsey County District Court.

As two cars stood still to let neighborhood fixture Roger Tetu, 78, cross the street at the intersection of Earl and Margaret, Larsin flew past the other cars and hit the elderly pedestrian so hard that Tetu flew up into the air, according to the complaint. Witnesses say Larsin didn't even slow down as he drove away.

When Larsin was spotted driving his Neon a few blocks away, his windshield was so badly cracked that he was leaning his head out the window to see.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

Larsin had only recently bought the car from a friend's girlfriend, though she hadn't transferred the registration to his name. Less than ten minutes after the accident, Larsin called the woman and told her to report that the car was stolen.

"She said he was breathing heavily, like he had been running," the complaint says.

Larsin turned himself in to St. Paul police on Friday. After his Miranda rights were read, he said he wanted a lawyer and gave no statement to police.

That Larsin, who was driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident, would come up with the idea of the car's being stolen is interesting, given his own history. He has a long history of illegal activity with cars, dating back to the time a then-17-year old Larsin pleaded guilty to stealing a car in 2007.

Larsin is in Ramsey  County Jail with a $60,000 bail. Criminal vehicular manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.

It would help you got the name right. It is Roger Tetu that was killed by Gregory John Larsin on Tuesday, July 26, 2011

What does "elderdly" mean?

Zeroisanumber

Portmanteau of "Elderly" and "Dastardly". Evidently Mike Mullen has some sort of grievance against Mr. Tetu.

Or it could just be a typo. Either/Or.
