Police say the shooting took place on the 2200 block of Dupont in north Minneapolis.
A 17-year-old was shot twice in north Minneapolis Sunday by a group of teenagers who escaped on bikes.

The bike-by shooting took place on the 2200 block of Dupont Avenue north around 3:30 p.m, says Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Steve McCarty.

McCarty says the kid was hit twice -- once in the chest -- and is in critical condition now at North Memorial Medical Center. The injuries are life-threatening, but authorities are optimistic that he'll pull through.

Investigators have no suspects in custody, and are still trying to piece together what led to the shooting, says McCarty.

Police believe both the shooter and victim were on bikes, he says, but "still have to determine what exactly happened out there."

Bicycling drive-bys happen in Minneapolis "from time to time," says McCarty. Another man was plugged in the stomach late last month on the corner of Emerson and Lowry avenues in north Minneapolis by someone a bicycle.
