Joe Senser is the owner of the SUV, but had loaned it to his daughter.
Former Vikings tight end and current local sports media personality Joe Senser is the owner of a car involved in a deadly hit and run accident.

The Mercedes SUV that hit and killed 38-year-old Anousoune Phanthavong around 11 p.m. on August 23 has been found inside Senser's garage and belongs to the former football star, but early reports don't have Senser as the suspected driver.

Senser had reportedly loaned the car to one of his daughters the night of the accident. The car was found to have a bobby pin, earrings, and the cap off a "Mike's Hard Lemonade" inside it after Minnesota State Patrol executed a search warrant at Senser's Edina house, Fox9 reports.

Senser played four years for the Vikings, and now owns a chain of restaurants.
Phanthavong, who'd been the head cook at True Thai restaurant, was filling his car with gas when he was hit by the SUV.

The search warrant was executed by State Patrol Investigators after authorities got a call from a lawyer on behalf of the owner of the car involved in the accident, according to Fox 9.

Senser, a Pennsylvania native, was a 6th-round draft pick by the Vikings in 1980. Senser played four years for the Vikings, including a standout 1981 season for which he was named to the Pro Bowl. His career was cut short by injury, but after Senser's playing days he stuck around the Twin Cities and opened up a chain of sports bar-restaurants.

There are now Joe Senser's Sports Theaters in Edina, Bloomington, Plymouth and Roseville.

Senser is also a radio personality on WCCO, where he broadcasts University of St. Thomas football games.

According to Fox 9, Senser has four daughters. Family members have spoken to investigators about the case, but have not shared information. No arrests have yet been made.

It's a conspiracy!!! I can understand not wanting your daughter to go to jail but you got to do the responsible thing!!!! What if that was your son or daughter!!! They're getting special treatment to say the least!!! When you run you only make matters worse!!!! We'll see if our judicial system has any validity or is it another OJ case where money can buy you out of anything!!!! How about checking Mrs. Senser's phone records with calls to her brother who is an Edina Police officer!!!! Hmmmm!!!! This whole unfortunate situation reeks of lieing and conspiracy to say the least!!!! I hope that justice prevails but I've almost given up on how much of a joke out judicial system is!!!!

I believe celebrities should be treated the same as "regular" citizens.  If it were you or I, we would be in custody right now.

It would be interesting to know who was in the car that evening. I find it suspicious that Amy Senser would be alone in Mpls. at 11pm. How do we know someone else wasn't driving. Even ol' Joe could have been at the wheel...we'll never really know. I believe she is taking a "fall" for someone. Such a tragedy. I am certain during that 24 hour period, they covered all their bases with regard to alibi's and what not.  At some point...we are accountable for our actions. I have always said, what goes around comes around. Rich or poor...we are all the same in the Lord's eyes.

Isn't there a law on aiding and abetting a felony after the fact? Assuming the wife first admitted the crime and now the daughter admitted the crime, isn't that lying to the police? What about a lawyer presumably knowing about a possible felony and not reporting the fact for several days? I agree with earlier posts that a poor person would probably be in jail

marina, it was sensers wife, not his daughter, but it couldve gone either way

i blame the females of all ages, they are so screwed up in the head

this woman has had everything handed to her for her entire married life and when she makes a mistake she feels its not her fault. i seriously doubt she will be charged with the most serious crime it will probably be some weak ass hit and run charge that can be paid off without any jail time, horrible

The most effective thing the public can do until this is settled is to avoid his businesses.

I love how you all have an opinion when very few facts are known beyond the fact that many people's lives have been changed forever.  Who says Mr. Senser is going to try to buy his child's freedom?  No they are not speaking, but would you want to talk to any reporter if your family was in this spot?  And why should they speak to reporter's?  If he were "Joe Smith" no one would be that outraged.  I feel AWFUL for the victim's family and sympathy for the accused.

Just another dad.

It's completely irrelevant that Joe Senser is a famous Minnesotan.  The obvious tragedy is an innocent man was killed and his family will never be the same.  The other tragedy is that a father has been devastated with the probability that his daughter may have made a deadly mistake.  I hope and pray that none of us will have to experience anything like this and that all the people involved will find some sense of meaning, healing, and ultimately closure.

What is wrong with people? I just watched the news and am disgusted with the young woman driving the suv. Boycott his business until the wrong is made right

My friend's dad was nearly killed in a hit and run accident, in which the driver, a young lady, pulled over, got out of the car, looked on at his condition, and got right back in and sped away. What is wrong with young drivers today in which they just drive off after running someone over? The victim was a loved member of the local restaurant community, and I feel awful for his family and friends. The Mike's Hard Lemonade girl who did this should be made an example of. Money and a famous daddy can't get you out of this.

How do we know for certain it was Senser's wife driving the SUV???She could be taking the rap for a drunk daughter that was behind the wheel.Either way the truth needs to be sorted out. If his wife is creating a cover-up, then she needs to charged with obstruction and the true driver charged for the death.

As far as a boycott of his business, why not! Sure it isn't the employee's fault this happened but I will be damned if I will spend a single dollar of mine to put any profit in his pocket.

Joe Senser is man who wants to do the right thing . Many people are jumping on the bandwagon of doom for his Family and yet do not know what really happened. Staying out of his restaurant's is only going to hurt his employees income.Joe has partners in his business as well and let's remember that Joe himself is not being accused of the hit and run.

Settle down a little bit, PRAY a lot for ALL that are involved.

I don't understand this comment...

Why would you punish lots of people, like the employees of the restaurnts?

Pray for everyone involved.

"No one would be outraged?" Really? Pretty sure we would still be angry, just like we were angry at the man who ran over that young man in Dinkytown in April and fled. Let's be real, NOTHING will bring back Mr. Phanthavong, but someone needs to be punished. It wasn't just an "accident," it was a hit and run.

NOT JUST ANOTHER DAD? A LOVED DAD, JUST TRYING TO PUT GAS IN HIS CAR & THEN A PERSON HIT HIM SO HARD THAT HE FLEW 40-50 FEET & HE FLEW OVER HER FRONT CAR, SHE NEW SHE HIT HIM, SHE NEVER STOPED, THEN LEFT & WENT HOME HID HER CAR FOR 10 DAYS (WHY} ???. WHY DID SHE GO BACK TO THE TO THE SEEN OF WHERE SHE HIT HIM???? I DO NOT FEEL SORRY FOR THIS AMY, WHO DID NOT STOP, YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT BUT SHE NOS WHAT SHES DONE & GOD NOS & I HOPE THE JURY FINDS THREW HER LIES.

Either way it's vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. If they find an open bottle and can find trace amounts of MHL thats open bottle offense. She's looking at 10 - 20 years which will be plead down to 3 years, dumb dumb school and then probation. If she thinks she's getting off then she will make another mistake and then she's fucked. Cheaters never win and her Dad should know this.

if she does not do a jail sentence, then there is no morrel in this world? there stories are so differt you can see that she knew she hit him & she will pay in one way or another.

No doubt the lawyer made certain to wait long enough to make sure that there is no way to prove whether or not the driver was drunk as well.

I agree with the boycott. What kind of message is he conveying to his children? Don't take responsibility for your actions in life. If you have money you can buy your way out of trouble. I guess when you have money, you don't need morals and values.

IT WAS NOT JUST A ACCIDENT!!!! AMY KILLED A MAN & SHE KNEW IT, ARE YOU STUPIED??? WHY DID SHE NOT STOP?? IF YOU HIT SUMEONE OR EVEN IF YOU HEAR A BIG THUG, WOULND'T YOU STOP TO SEE WHAT YOU HIT??? NOT AMY SHE TOOK OFF & MADE UP A BIG STORY, A HIT & RUN IS THEY DO NOT HIDE THE CAR FOR 10 DAYS. WAKE UP SHE KILLED THAT POOR MAN!!!!

Probably not
Probably not

Those may be the allegations but you are jumping to conclusions- the reason they did not find the car until their family attorney contacted the authorities is a lack of evidence. To the first claim you make regarding vehicular manslaughter and fleeing the scene- can you BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT guarantee who was driving that vehicle on the night in question? For the second charge, so far after the fact can you again guarantee BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that there was in fact an open container and the cap did not fall out of a purse, pocket or pant cuff after it was consumed at another location? And lastly can you prove BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that the driver of that vehicle was the one consuming the beverage? The logical answer to these questions is no, expect a civil trial where guilt beyond a doubt does not need to be proven.

PROBABLY NOT--- your anwer look at all the results!!!!! if you kill some one I supose you would run to???? you are so dumb!!!!!
