Keith Ammons only stopped shooting when the gun jammed.
Keith Ammons's ex-girlfriend had a date on Monday night. Because Ammons couldn't handle that reality, he has a court date -- and she will probably spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office filed four felony charges against Ammons for the shooting spree he went on, which was witnessed by the woman's 14-year-old daughter. Ammons and his victim had been together for more than a dozen years, before a recent separation. The two of them were still living together, but Ammons apparently hadn't moved on.

When he found she'd gone on a date, Ammons pulled a gun on his ex-girlfriend and shot, over and over, only stopping when the gun finally jammed on him.

By the end of it, the woman had eight gunshot wounds, most of them to her torso. Amazingly, she's survived the rampage, and police found her responsive and able to speak to them when they arrived.

The woman's daughter told police she and her mother were huddled in the bedroom, knowing that Ammons was angry, when he kicked in the door and told the daughter to get out of the way. The woman's daughter fled the house for a neighbor's as gunshots rang out behind her.

Ammons's victim was shot eight times, with bullets hitting her spleen and bowels. Another damaged her spinal cord, which will likely result in permanent paralysis, according to the complaint.

Ammons faces one charge of first-degree attempted murder, and another for second-degree murder; those crimes carry maximum sentences of a half-life sentence and 40 years in prison, respectively. He's also charged with first-degree assault and prohibited possession of a firearm.

All these comments are being made about what happened and why based on the media's story. Who the hell knows what REALLY happen and WHY, only the two individuals involved. Truly it is a very sad thing to have happen for both parties involved. Here are two young individuals that have been together for 15+ years. They have a daughter together, a home together and something went wrong. There are three lives involved here that have to deal with this tragedy. Keith has a family and so does Gina and both of these families have to deal with what has happen to each one of them. Did anyone ever think to stop and say a prayer for these individuals? Do you really know or care how they are feeling right now? Do you personally know either one of them? The media has a way of blowing things up and we sit around and feed on it. All they want is a story to make HEADLINE news-they don't care whether they have all the fact or not. There are a lot of people HURTING behind this and I AM ONE OF THEM.

Its not right but if they still live together, they must have been a couple. If they were together that long was that his daughter as well? Why would the woman go on a date and still live with this man? I don't think the whole story is being told. Never the less this type of thing should never happen.

Your comment is the only one that makes any kind of halfway sense here. You are right the whole truth isn't being told.

This guy a monster, and should be put to death for his actions.

Is a death sentence to harsh for you liberal wienies?

OK, I guess we will just open our wallets out of "compassion" for him, and put him in prison. Here is where the fun begins. We will provide him with 3 balanced meals a day, cable TV, board and card games, a free education, health and dental care, and a gym to bulk up in.

Ya, that will teach him...

I agree with the death penalty.   I think its a joke that it only applies to poor people though.   I think Rick Perry should be on death row for his treasonous statements about seceding from the United States.   He said that in the middle of two wars.    I'd also execute George W. Bush, Dick Chaeny, and Karl Rove for their roles in outing Valerie Plame and their roles in the torture scandal.   Outing an undercover CIA agent is treason and the Bush White House is obviously guilty.  After World War 2 we executed Japanese soldiers for water boarding our soldiers.  Wouldn't justice require we do the same to Bush and his pals?

Yeah, let's put him to death. It's important to enforce the belief that murdering someone is justified in only CERTAIN occasions, like when you're the one in power and making the decision. However, if someone chose to murder you based on their own arbitary justification, that is entirely wrong. Because morality is simple, you see. You hurt me, you're bad. I hurt you back, it's justice.
