Michele Bachmann rebuts Obama's jobs plan with her non-plan

bachmann rebuttal.jpg
Michele Bachmann's got a plan, she just won't tell us what it is.
Barack Obama gave a speech before a joint session of Congress last night, introducing a wide-ranging second stimulus package to jolt the American economy back to life.

Michele Bachmann says it wasn't even a plan, and said there are proven ways to improve the economy. The only problem is, if Bachmann has her own plan, she's not telling anyone what it is.

In her "unofficial" and largely unwatched rebuttal to the president's speech, Bachmann spelled doom on Obama's jobs plan, saying an infusion of government money into the economy had failed in the past, and would fail again.

"Instead of temporary fixes," Bachmann instructed Obama, "do what has worked in the past: permanent pro-growth policies that are driven by the free market."

Uh, hey, Michele, any chance you could explain what you're talking about?

No, she didn't.

Bachmann faulted Obama's speech as being purely "political," and not actually offering any real plan. Except, you know, for all that whole "plan" thing he laid out.

Obama's speech called for $447 billion in tax cuts and government spending, with the major moves being a cut to the payroll tax and spending on public works projects. The cut-more, spend-more solution -- the same one that ended Minnesota's shutdown -- raises serious questions of where the money's actually coming from, but at least on its face, looks like a plan.

Michele Bachmann, Barack Obama: One of these people has a plan.
"The question," Obama said, "is whether, in the face of an ongoing national crisis, we can stop the political circus and actually do something to help the economy."

House Speaker John Boehner, never one to pass up a chance to take a shot at the president, put out a statement that indicated he doesn't have a ticket to the circus:

"The proposals the president outlined tonight merit consideration. We hope he gives serious consideration to our ideas as well."
But Michele Bachmann, the resident trapeze artist of the American political circus, was having none of that deliberative, thoughtful stuff. Obama, she said, "doubled down on more of the same policies that are killing the United States economy."

Right, then. We're back to that: This is the Obama recession, caused by his stimulus package, and has nothing to do with a housing bubble, a credit crisis, and the long-term outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to China and India.

Bachmann went on to warn that things are only going to get worse if Obama gets his way.

According to Bachmann, the Congressional Budget Office analysis of Obama's healthcare overhaul will "kill upwards of 800,000 jobs, and steal over $500 billion away from Medicare."

Murder! Theft! Arrest Barack Obama!

Well, this kind of wild rhetoric might not help the tone of discussion at the circus, but it'll probably get lots of attention for Bachmann. Wait, no one cares? The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, ABC News, CBS, NBC -- no one found any space for our gal Michele? Only Fox News covered the speech?

Michele, there's really only one way to get the American people's attention with a rebuttal speech: Always, always look into the wrong camera.

What is your plan?  Do you have a plan?  P L A N.  Plan!  We must do something therefore we need a plan.  Can we plan?  PLAN plan PLan plAN.  PLAN!  We shall plan!  Barf.

Obama has no plan as of yet.Last nights "emergency" event was a political ploy and a campaign event.

It was announced TODAY that an actual bill will be released NEXT WEEK. He called a "emergency joint congressional session" and cut into the NFL's pregame for the FIRST game of the year to announce a idea?

The man is a pretentious egotistical jerk!

Per a national Rasmussen(!) poll released on Thursday:

"Half of voters (51%) describe Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s views as extreme, while just 27% say she is mainstream."

But the Tea Party is all about the "will of the People", isn't it? And "the libs" fear Bachmann because she can win, right?

When the most Right-leaning national pollster in the country puts out results like this, even Republicans should take notice.

""do what has worked in the past: "

Has no one in Washington taken a high school civics class? The thing that worked last time was the government creating a shit-ton of infrastructure jobs that cascaded work to every facet of the American business machine supporting those projects.

Holy shit I feel like a crazy person that no one remembers what got America back on track in the past...trusting the private industry that fucked us all in the first place sure as shit wasn't it.

Ready, shoot, aim. That philosophy reminds me of another poorly-planned waste of my money and human life...but I can't seem to put my finger on it...

No matter, the important thing is that Obama gets a "Mission Accomplished" banner printed up to hang over the front of the grand opening of a Noodles & Company when month over month unemployement drops 1%.

...wait, I think I might remember...

Besides, there is "planning" and there is "presenting a blueprint, (plan). I believe the "blueprint" has been presented. Now the GOP will "plan" to defeat it.Who do think will win?

Your party, or the citizens who want jobs and less "planning?"

No, rather than "plan," let's "jump right into it," "F" it up and then spend anotherdecade FIXING the problems because we did not plan?

But I do agree sometimes it might be wiser to actually "do" rather" than "talk about it."I guss you and I are the TRUE "get er done," kind of folks, right?

Got it all covered.

You are correct again sir. We agree. He "has no plan." Even though he gave one. WE "know" better (you and I). Wow, what an "ego" that President has. The nerve.

How could this "silly specious tirade," do ANYTHING for the under-emplyed and the downright destitute?Heck now, Bachmann, YOU and me, have the right plan. NO MORE TAXES for life!!

Those "pretentious" jerks!! Heck WE "have it figured out," with utmost LOGIC and humility. Long live "K the CJ." A true prophet!!

EXACLTY!!!  How DARE the president conflict with people's ability to watch football games!  Especially since they don't have to get up early the next morning to go to work because they don't have jobs!

Yes, and why aren't the Bush tax cuts considered a failure? They were extended, and unemployment went up, not down. A major part of the Republican psuedo-plan is to make these tax cuts permanent. Is Bachmann opposed to this failed policy from the past as well?

I do not understand this deification of a corporate America whose primary "job creation" has been in OTHER COUNTRIES. Why are Republicans looking to China, of all places, as the model of economic perfection?

Meanwhile, the Republicans will continue to scream at Obama to "do something", while bitterly opposing every single thing he does or says. If he "leads", then he is a 'dictator'. And, unless he acts like a dictator, he "fails to lead".

Hey Jerk, you know it's the Republican's fault for pushing Obama's speech to the NFL pregame time, right? He wanted to do the speech on Wed but Boehner REFUSED to agree because congress wouldn't have enough time to prepare (really?). And it was the very first time in history that such a refusal happened. The political circus and not cooperating just because you can has hit an all time low. Now it affected the average voting Joe like yourself because you missed your pregame show! "Damn that Obama! I didn't get to see my pregame show of Kid Rock looking like an asshole! SOCIALIST!"

You may want to got back to school on when the US became involved in WWII (you may recall a day that lives in infamy) and when the New Deal was implemented and US employment saw positive growth (excluding WPA programs).

Synopsis: They were 4 years apart.

You mean "Obama's tax cuts"?He and his little pen took FULL control of that by extending those "evil tax cuts, that reward the rich", say the retarded liberal.

Lets not forget about his Bigger and MORE intrusive "Patriot Act" he re-signed into law.I guess BIGGER is BETTER when it comes to intrusion into ones personal liberties, say the formerly pissed off libertarian. (they hated Bush for that bill, but suddenly they are silent)

Hey Kirk - Let me copy and paste something for you:

Boehner urged in a letter to the president that the speech be moved from Wednesday Sept. 7 to Thursday Sept. 8. His reasoning was not that the speech will conflict with the Republican presidential debate scheduled to take place that night. Rather, he argued that the House of Representatives won’t have enough time to pass the resolution and conduct the security measures necessary in order to officially invite the president to a joint session on Wednesday.

Anyways, aren't you the one who complained about him giving a speech during the NFL opener? The man is a pretentious egotistical jerk! Adults watching millionaires play a child sport, turns ones mind to mush! (I copied and pasted those last lines too)

Kirk the Conservative Jerk

Sorry sue, that is not the reason Boehner refused.Whoever led you to believe that DOES NOT have you best interest in mind.Boehner refused because they had already had an event planned for MONTHS!

You may have heard of it, it aired on MSNBC?  Chris Mathews, and Rachael Maddow had lot to say about it.  NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams moderated it.It was called the Republican debate at the Reagan Library. And people liked you comment? Are these people as ignorant as you?The circles you people run in must have an I.V. filled with stupid connected to your arm!Furthermore, Adults watching millionaires play a child sport, turns ones mind to mush!

Well, I see I finally read something from K the CJ. I have heard from others that you are an arrogant, ignorant, blowhard. I disagree, you are right about "Obama Tax Cuts."

I mean he continues to extend the "Bush Tax Cuts," and NOW he wants to extend the tax cuts to "small busniesses." Who are THEY to get tax cuts, right? They are onluy small and most are probably GOP like you, huh?

Tax cuts for the rich? Obama does that. Why? He wants to PROVE 9as you know) that "rich people create jobs." You and I are thinking the same thing here.

Home Tax Credit? Who needs it, right "K the CJ?"School Loan credits? Who goes to school anymore, right? WE don't need school to BLOVIATE, do we?

Who cares if our Republican friends held Congress HOSTAGE until they got the extensions for the rich, right? Unemployment insurance? Those people better "get a job?"

You and me ARE really "jerks in geniuses clothing," right my friend?

David Foureyes
David Foureyes

In the parlance of the GOP; Obama had a mandate and possibly the votes to end, at least, the Patriot Act in his first two years (considering the way the 2010 elections went, the departing Dems could also have helped end the worthless cuts as well as a parting shot)...but instead he squandered an opportunity, capitulated, gave credence to "Blue Dogs" who wish for his ruination, and he continues to work to mediate with scared assholes that are in the pocket of corporations.

You don't negotiate with a dog with rabies...you shoot it.

Michelle Bachmann

I get what you are saying Foureyes, I still can't blame Obama since that represented him being an adult and giving the Republicans what they wanted.   Elections do have consequences and the Republicans controlled the House.  One reason I hate Republicans and think they are all complete idiot children is their absolute refusal to compromise with Democrats.   I would like to see Dems be a bit more firm in negotiations and pushing their agenda but I don't want them to be inflexible.   I just wish the stupid fucking idiots like kirk would actually try to learn something once in their life and realize how terrible Republican ideas are.    Seriously how stupid are these Republicans who's only ideas seem to be let's do what didn't work again.  This is why a party that rejects all science, facts, and logic are such a danger.

David Foureyes
David Foureyes

Kirk is right (I know, it is infrequent), but Obama let us all down by continuing Bush's scared-baby bullshit.
