| Minneapolis bike lovers have been worried sick over one of their own. |
Alharbi was driving through Marshall and Prior Ave around 5:30 when he struck a bicyclist with his car. He hit his victim so hard the windshield cracked and the person had to be hospitalized, according to St. Paul police. Witnesses on the scene describe seeing the bicycle folded in half and blood smeared on the car as an ambulance took the victim to Hennepin County Medical Center.
St. Paul police declined to comment on the injuries, except to say that they were "not lifethreatening."
Alharbi was arrested that evening but wasn't taken down to the police station. He was cited for driving without a license, not having insurance, and "inattentive driving," then released, according to the incident report.
His car was towed by police at the scene.
Users on the Minneapolis Bike Love website have been frantic in the days since, wondering whether the victim was safe or the person who hit them apprehended. Now they know.
