Ron Paul announces campaign event in St. Cloud

Ron Paul is coming to Michele Bachmann's backyard, but not for a BBQ.
Ron Paul is making noise in the Republican presidential nomination game, at least compared to his previously inaudible runs for the White House.

Paul is sitting fourth in the most recent Gallup Poll, just outside mainstreamers Mitt Romney (first) and Rick Perry (third), and the suddenly meteoric Herman Cain, who is shockingly in second place with 18 percent.

Paul still has a small, dark horse-on-the-outside-track kind of chance in this race, given Cain's inevitable collapse -- has to happen, right? -- and the ongoing sniping between Romney  and Perry.

But, as if to claim some sort of victory among fringe candidates, Paul is coming to Minnesota, right to the heart of Michele Bachmann country, to hold a campaign event exactly one year and one day before the next presidential election.

Weird: We thought Ron Paul only campaigned on internet message boards and "END THE FED" Youtube videos. Turns out he also makes public appearances.

Oh, by the way, Bachmann is sixth (!) in that same Gallup poll, with a measly 5 percent. She's actually trailing Newt Gingrich, who probably just forgot to drop out of the race a couple weeks ago.

Now is the time to RSVP, Michele -- it's right by your house!
Anyway, if you're interested to see and hear Ron Paul up close and in person, here's your best chance, Minnesota. Paul is going to be in St. Cloud on Saturday, November 5, according to an event website posted by his campaign today. Paul is set to speak at the Eagle Rivers Convention Center that morning, where doors will open at around 10:00 a.m.

You can RSVP for the speech at the website, which also provides handy directions and maps, and urges Minnesotans to, "Come out and show your support for peace, prosperity, and individual liberty!"

The event will be free, just like all Americans are free from the bonds of government intervention according to the United States Constitution, if we'd just take out the damn thing and read it, as Dr. Paul teaches.

The doors of the Eagle Rivers Convention Center will open at 10:00 a.m.
