Trial date set for Jesse Scott Bertoli in molestation case
| Jesse Scott Bertoli: Charged for sexual conduct with a minor he had a "significant relationship" with. |
Ramsey County prosecutors allege the 36-year old resident of St. Paul molested a girl he had a "significant relationship with." The girl was 13 when the abuse began in May 2010, and it continued until July of this year. She told police Bertoli molested her "every three weeks."
The abuse started after the girl babysat for Bertoli's son. He came home and "got her drunk," touched her, and made her touch him. Eventually, he took her virginity and told her she was "beautiful" and that he "loved her."
He also told his victim that he "wished that they were not related," according to the criminal complaint filed by the Ramsey County Attorney's Office.
Eventually, as the abuse escalated, Bertoli, who sometimes goes by the alias Jesse Scott Fricke, told the victim not to worry about getting pregnant because he'd "take care of it" and they would "run off together" if it ever happened.
The molestation came to light when the victim told her mother, who called police.
Cops asked the victim to confront Bertoli over Facebook. She told him she was late for her period and she was concerned about it. He tried to convince her to have an abortion, according to the complaint. Bertoli agreed to meet his victim in an alley behind the Mississippi Market in St. Paul, where police arrested him.
If convicted, he faces a maximum 30 years in prison.
