Katherine Kersten is now in charge of racial diversity at our K-12 schools

Katherine Kersten will decide if your child sees people of other races at school.
Katherine Kersten, the conservative schoolmarm from the Star Tribune, has been appointed to a panel of 12 that will evaluate the use of state money to racially integrate schools.

Considering Kersten's well-known anti-diversity leanings, we're expecting she'll come to the conclusion that "separate but equal" wasn't really so bad. Perhaps some of the money could be used to install Whites-only drinking fountains?

What other great lessons will we learn from the Kersten Kurriculum? We skimmed her hysterical Star Tribune columns for indications of what kind of diversity "education" is in store for our children.

Kersten on Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart is the world's largest nongovernment employer, because it's the world's most popular retailer. A mind-boggling more than 100 million Americans shop there every week.

Katherine Kersten says teachers are being brainwashed with liberal orthodoxy.

Kersten on Liberals:

If the trajectory of epicurean liberalism continues, our democracy will be undermined.

Kersten on Teachers:

After indoctrination of this kind, who wouldn't conclude that the American Dream of equality for all is a cruel hoax? But just to make sure, the task force recommends requiring "our future teachers" to "articulate a sophisticated and nuanced critical analysis" of this view of the American promise.

Kersten on Marriage:

Once marriage is stripped of its organic purpose, why restrict it to two people? Two lesbians and the sperm donor for their child, polygamists, bisexuals: All will want society to recognize and respect their relationships.

Sasha Grey is Katherine Kersten's obsession.
Kersten on Porn Star Sasha Gray
Grey feels "completed" by sexual degradation--being "smacked, slapped, yanked, and sodomized," she told the magazine. She likes "peeing, spit, vomit," and at the time of the interview was scheduled to fly to San Francisco, where her vagina would be electrocuted on film.
And most importantly, here's what Katherine Kersten thinks about racial integration in K-12 schools:

Eden Prairie is one of a number of districts -- including Hopkins, Bloomington and Osseo -- where racial and income "balancing" is a growing issue. Orfield has proposed a "comprehensive strategy to integrate" the entire Twin Cities metro area.

Before Minnesota embarks on yet another grand experiment in wishful thinking and social engineering, we might listen to David Armor of George Mason University, who has studied busing and desegregation for 30 years. Districts that consider income-based busing plans "are undertaking policy shifts that bring great controversy and costs, with no solid evidence that this will improve education for anyone," he says.

Oddly, the Star Tribune wrote about the panel without mentioning that its columnist, Katherine Kersten, was appointed to it.  Perhaps they're hoping we'll forget?

Hey, you forgot her greatest hit, something that would have got her fired if she wasn't protected by her status as a conservative:  The Great Nonexistent Northfield Smack Epidemic of 2007!

Kersten likely was placed in this post because of the solid work she did spearheading the expose on government money being used to promote religious schools.

This article by Kevin Hoffman was hit-piece of vapid race baiting.  For instane, the author didn't seem to care to investigate her claim on whether this politically motivated move on bussing was a good idea, but just chose the intellectual low-road of demonization and ad-hominem.

I not surprised? My thoughts on public schools and prominent non-profits it is the same ole types of individuals who are invited are given the opportunity to bring about change.  I  do not see any meaningful change anytime soon

Glad to know this. It would have also been good to know what body appointed Kirsten. Did the Minneapolis School District appoint her? The State of Minnesota? Jesus?

Turns out Katherine Kersten is a MN House appointee, which I guess makes sense. In an effed up way.

I'm down with the anti-KK snark in this article, but it would have been helpful if reporter Hoffman had named the public servant(s) ultimately answerable to Kerten's appointment. Agreed?

I will never forgive lying idiot Katherine Kersten for when she blamed heroin use by teenagers on the Liberal ways of Northfield.   When the "heroin epidemic" was revealed to be the figment of a stupid cop's imagination Katherine Kersten didn't apologize or even write a retraction.   She is a hateful and stupid person so no wonder she is one of the voices of Republicans and Conservatives.   The Star and Tribune sucks ass.  That's why I only read City Pages,Minnpost, and The Minnesota Independent  for my Minnesota news.

OH MAH GAH.  Kersten is in the running for the title of the worst person in this state, along with T-Paw, Michele Bachmann and that weirdo who runs the Minnesota "Family" Council.  Where is Governor Ventura when you need him??

Putting this woman in charge of anything related kids is alarming to me as a parent. She recently (11/6/11) wrote an Op-Ed for the Star Trib saying that "school yard bullying has always been a problem because the human tendency to find pleasure in humiliating and dominating of others is as old as mankind." Huh??? I can say with 100% certainty I have NEVER taken "pleasure" in the humilation or domination of another human being.   She doesn't believe that LGBTQ students should be protected under federal education legislation, she railed against muslim students and now she'll be decidied who get what in terms of funding?  Sheesh.......

As one of my friends posted on Facebook, it feels like appointing Kersten to this panel is like putting Mel Gibson on the board of the Anti-Defamation League.  The fact that the STrib didn't not mention the potential conflict of interest (perhaps relying on the PDF release which mentions her appointment) disturbs me.  Between this and the recent "switch" in the Minnesota Poll question regarding the forthcoming Marriage Amendment, which appears designed to create a closer "race" and stir the pot a bit (not to mention throwing the poll's validity on this question out of the window in terms of being able to compare apples to apples), and I really have to start questioning their role as the "paper of record" in the Twin Cities.
