Michael Brodkorb had a domestic dispute with his wife this summer.
Michael Brodkorb had a "verbal argument" with his wife this summer that frightened her so much that she called the cops, according to a police report obtained by City Pages.

Around noon on June 5, Eagan Police were summoned to Brodkorb's home by his wife, Sarah Beth Brodkorb, who told the responding officer that she and her husband had been having "marital issues" and had gotten into an argument that morning.

Sarah reported that Michael had thrown a kid's toy -- though it wasn't aimed at her -- during the dispute, and stormed out of the house. Michael "slammed the door causing a frame to break."

Sarah Brodkorb called 911 because "the level of anger in Michael's voice scared both her and their three children," according to the police report.

Michael Brodkorb was gone by the time the responding officer arrived, but called "a few times" while the cop was there, according to the report. Michael "eventually" talked with the responding officer, who told Brodkorb he was investigating "what appeared to be a verbal domestic."

Amy Koch was having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer rumored to be Michael Brodkorb.
Michael told the cop that there had been a "disagreement" and was "wondering what time he could come home," according to the police report.

The officer told Brodkorb that he could come home and there would be no charges "based on the information provided."

Sarah talked longer with the officer, informing him that her brother, Gregory Wessels, was living with her and Michael. The cop told her she could call Eagan Police if she had any more problems.

At one point, the officer noticed that Sarah had "what appeared to be bruising on one of her wrists." Sarah said the bruises came from an IV treatment.

Later, the cop talked to Michael Brodkorb, who told police he and his wife had been having a "disagreement due to marital discord" and that there was "no physical violence."

The report provides an interesting look into Brodkorb's home life in the midst of the ongoing controversy over Amy Koch's "inappropriate relationship" with a direct subordinate widely rumored to be Brodkorb.

Brodkorb had been a powerful figure in the state GOP until abruptly leaving his position as Koch's communications chief on Friday. On Saturday, news broke that Brodkorb had also stopped working for state Sen. Mike Parry's congressional campaign.

He must be a chubby chaser. She's what I would call morbidly obese.

He's lucky, she could have filed a false abuse charge and had a restraining order issued against him which would have not needed any ACTUAL evidence of abuse that any judge would have signed (for free of course because she's a woman an the femnazi's only help women who are abused see how many shelters there are in this country that allow men who are abused). This would have resulted in his immediate loss of his 2nd amendment right (still no factual evidence needed just her word) and he'd been kicked out of the house (he;d still have to pay the mortgage though) for at least two years. She could have then used this to strip away his rights as a father in family court (he'd still have to pay child support and the mortgage) and if she's a stay at home mom he'd also get to pay her alimony. All on the false accusation of a woman. Anyone could perceive the actions of another as frightening even without any actual factual evidence (i.e. he looked at me must want to rape me syndrome even though I'm dressed as a trashy whore) ol Luthern Lady. But of course we know that when a woman actuall cuts her husbands penis off and grinds it up that it not "physical abuse" but foder for laughter on The View. The legal ramifications for false accusation of domestic abuse....wait for it....Nothing! Thanks nanny state who in the same breathe states women are superior to men but at the same time victims to them. Apparently you can have it both ways if you're a female!

"The report provides an interesting look into Brodkorb's home life in the midst of the ongoing controversy over Amy Koch's "inappropriate relationship" with a direct subordinate widely rumored to be Brodkorb."An interesting "look" into Bordkorb;s home life??? really? and "innappropriate relationship" RUMORED to be Brodkorb? Rumored??? Well damn, let's get the pitchforks and torches and light up the town..and can someone tell me what the innapropriate relationship entailed? Hey, Mark Dayton is having an innapropriate relationship with someone in the union... why won't that get reported.. and he should resign...it's just a rumor.. but what the hell..   The U.S. economy is crumbling, Minnesota has a myriad of financial, employment and economic woes, yet RUMORS and looking into a private man's home life is what passes for news now? And before you Dems start in, it's not a holier than thou attitude. Yes there are principles that Republicans espouse and should uphold, and yes it would be good for those that preach to do as they say. BUT it is also true that people are fallable and make mistakes. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone....It's no wonder people are sick of politics. It's a blood sport and getting bloodier with the support of the MSM. So with this latest turn of events will the MSM interestingly "look into" any gay relationships? Will that be fair game? Will the MSM even bother to "look into" it then? I doubt it... sure is fun to throw those stones at the glass house isn't it. Especially when the stones don't hit you. But MSM loves to wallow and delve into the misery of others....All we know is regarding Amy Koch and an innapropriate relationship with someone. Even at that, someone said something to someone about Koch.... but there sure is a lot of speculation and stuff made up to explain something. When no one really knows happened except the two people, and they aren't talking. Nor should they.....

Women abuse the system/resources available for women who truely need them, they know they can get a restraining order with nothing to back it up, they know they can call the police and lie to exact "punishment" on men. There are abused women (and men) that dont call for help when they should and immature/manipulative women that abuse the system far too often. Verbal domestic? Really? How about filing charges against people who waste the cops time? What a joke!

Exactly at what point should she have called the cops, Jailtime? *After* he bashed her in the face? *After* he pulled out a knife or a gun and started attacking her and her children? Did it ever occur to you that she was interested not in abusing the system but in protecting her kids before things escalated from verbal to physical abuse? These are not rhetorical questions. I'd really love to hear your answers on all these questions.

They had a verbal argument, there was no gun, no knife, no head bashing as you soo dramatically suggested. If youre not mature enough to solve your problems with words and call the police to act as a marriage counselor, then perhaps you shouldnt be married. Married people fight, verbally. Hey, my friend and I got into a verbal fight about a recent football game, maybe I shoulda called the police before he pulled a gun/knife/bashed my head in, right? Spousal abuse is a very SERIOUS matter, that wasnt the case here, a woman knowing how to abuse the system and not knowing how to manage conflict as an adult is the reality. There should be consequences for people that abuse the system like that. Period.

Yes, but Mr. Jailtime is starting from the assumption that "women abuse the system."  IOW, he starts from the assumption that women are liars who are out to strip good men of their pay.  Mr. Jailtime is an MRA, as are many of the misogynistic commentors on this site.  I recognize the arguments.

The "fiscally responsible", "family values" party is neither. Once the republican party realizes and acknowledges that people are people and gets off the social issues high horse, maybe they can focus on practicing what they preach regarding economics. Then they might be worth something. Until then, I'll be sitting out future elections.

Big Bob

"Family Values" is an attempt to get people to live good lives that don't require them to be on the government dole and a burden on their neighbors.  Family values leads to smaller government.  Encouraging "family values" doesn't mean you expect everybody to live a Leave It To Beaver lifestyle.  Life is still complicated but at least you tried.

Michelle Bachmann
Michelle Bachmann

"Family Values" is something evil people say to trick idiot bigots into voting for them.  Using nonsense terms like "family values"  tricks low information voters into identifying with your political party as strongly as you do to your religion.   Republicans use Christianity to bring out the worst in people so they vote based on hate and not on what would be best for them economically.    Once the very stupid equate the Republican Party with the Christianity Party you have a voting block that will internalize all positions of the Republican Party no matter how bad it is for them personally.  That's why poor Republicans think its a good idea to give tax breaks to the rich.  No amount of logic or facts can sway "family values" voters because its not politics anymore to them, its religion. Con artists see stupid sheep like your typical Republican voter and take advantage.  That's why Republican presidential primary has been taken over by con artists selling books.   (Newt, Cain, Donald Trump, and Palin are notable examples of this)   That's also why you have so many sex scandals among the Republican elite.    Amy Koch and Brodkorb really prove how important the sanctity of marriage is to them.  Can you get more hypocritical?   Is there anything more terrible than a politician that doesn't practice what they preach?

Damn not everything is bright and sunny in Eagan, Minnesota? The kids and wives and husbands aren't all getting along swell in their minivans and oversized suburban homes with door frames made out of cheap imported lumber? Yawn news! It's not a story until he draws blood from hitting Sarah in the face.

Too bad so sad about your job, Tony.  I wonder why you had to resign?  I suppose we'll never know the truth about that either.

"To be honest, I’m saddened that some in my political party only judge elected officials by the votes they cast in office and not how they conduct themselves in office." - Michael B. Brodkorb- Posting on M.D.E. Blog 8/13/2008

Guess Brodkorb's standard doesn't extend to the conduct of publicly paid Senate staff.

Ok? (Crickets chirping). Sounds like a whole lot of something about nothing. Verbal domestic? Something that could only exist in this Nanny/Police state.

Lonestar

Something about nothing ??Isn't it better to deal with a verbal domestic dispute than wait until it turns into a physical domestic dispute when someone is seriously harmed or even killed?   She called the police because she was afraid and fearful for her life, obviously.  I mean...he hurled a toy across the room......you call it government intervention, I call it protecting yourself and your children.Oh, perhaps she was just being overly cautious.......she should have waited for the first punch that would have blackened both eyes or possibly even knocked out a tooth or two, and THEN called?  Yea....crickets chirpring......right!

Really...tell that to the thousands of women who are killed by their husbands every year because they didn't make a call.  I hope you were delivering sarcasm...if not, you are pitiful

Polio pony

No sarcasm lady. And no pity. He raised his voice and then left the home. After which his wife made the call. Remember the old axiom, 'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me'? Nowhere in this report does it mention threats against her or her children. No crime was ever committed, yet a police report was generated. This happened half a year ago. Has Mrs. Brodkorb moved out, filed for divorce, or alleged any abuse since then? People in this country aren't arrested because of what they might do...yet. It's hand-holders like yourself that do more damage to families because you are always looking for government intervention into what should be a private, family matter.

He raised his voice, threw something, and broke the door by slamming it so hard.  Yeah, nothing to worry about there.

And no charges were filed, so what are you whining about?

Oh, yeah, I remember: a woman daring to object to anything a man does.

It would be much better if frightened people would call the police and the dispatcher would hang up.
