The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the death.
A man yet to be identified is dead after lying down on I-694 this afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Around 12:30, a car pulled over to the side of the road heading westbound near McKnight Road. The driver stepped out of the car and lay in the far right lane of 694, where he was hit by a semi truck and killed, according to the State Patrol.

We reported on a similar incident last November, when a woman was killed after lying down on I-94.

Not much else is known about today's tragedy at this time, but we'll update as more information becomes available.

UPDATE [4:20]: The State Patrol is reporting that 694 near McKnight has been reopened.

This is sad.  As someone who has been affected by people who committed suicide (though in different ways), I find it sad the expense of professional help for people afflicted with depression, though cost is not always what keeps people from getting help.

Here's the thing... these people that do this are seriously causing a lot more damage than they think or realize...  Yes it is a tragedy that someone was killed but lets look at the truck driver... He now has to live knowing that he ran over a human being...  That in and of itself is extremly traumatic...

Sounds like a suicide to me. Could be a real horrible way to go if you're not killed instantly, though.
