Michele Bachmann quits presidential race

Michele Bachmann says she's quitting the race.
Michele Bachmann has officially quit the 2012 presidential race.

After a dismal sixth place finish in the Iowa caucus last night, Bachmann has finally read the enormous writing on the wall and effectively ended her ill-fated campaign.

"Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice," Bachmann announced in press conference in Des Moines, Iowa this morning. "And so I have decided to stand aside."

Earning a mere five percent of the vote in Iowa, Bachmann didn't win a single county, losing to everyone but John Huntsman, who didn't even campaign. Given how much time and money she spent campaigning in Iowa -- which happens to be her birth state -- doing so poorly didn't really bode well for the future.

Bachmann began this morning's news conference by explaining that she decided to run for president after the evening in March 2010 when congress passed Obama's health care reform bill. Though she's dropping out of the race, Bachmann vowed to continue fighting the good fight.

She didn't offer her support to another candidate this morning, but she left the door open for a future endorsement.

"I believe that if we are going to appeal Obamacare, turn our country around, and take back our country, we must do so united," she declared. "And I believe we must rally around the person that our country, and our party, and our people select to be that standard there."

Bachmann's story is a testimony to the volatility of the 2012 GOP presidential race. Just last August, she was leading the pack. Read this week's cover story, "The Fall of Michele Bachmann," to see how she fell so far so quickly.

It is sad that both the GOP and the voters that are so excited to support this current ideology that they must win the next presidental election while failing to remember history. 1910 after the GOP took over the white house they under funded the U.S. Park Service and USFS, because it was believed that those agencies where infact excessive government, massive forest fires burned across idaho and montana killing over 100 firefighter, numerous civilians and several tows burned over.  In the dust years no one in the GOP was willing to block up the idea of soil conservation untill the dust of Oklahoma blew into the open windows in Washington D.C. National Guard interaction during the laobor struggles since the GOP backed the business that created dangeruos work environments and had blocked efforts to establish OSHA, again for the idea of excessive government. 1993 Bob Dole and Newt killing the first attempt to fix the health insurance gp by declaring that there was nothing wrong with the US healthcare system and over night millions lost their health insrance due to there medic needs and the local Emergency Rooms became the family practice clinic for the american family. This current toxic campaign has the behavior of a bunch of horders who do not see the problem, just fear the real solution that is need to help "ALL" americans. Requiring health insurance for all americans is not socialism that he current fear tatics claim, when our counties can steal childern from our families and be paid a $10,000.00 bonus from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, thats socialism and it has ben around since the Reagan Administration.

Given the tatics being used by both this embarrassment of an elected representative and the remaining GOP canidates are remenence of Hitlers raise to part by claiming patrirotism and scare tatics againt groups of people he deamed so undesirable he was willing to kill them in the millions, once the "New World order" take over what type of freedom is it when we no longer have parks, forests amd wildlife refuges to bring our families to? When our loved ones who become medically needed are denied basic medical needs all because they are no longer contributing to society.

Unlike the frauds that had been elected across the country to stone wall our needs I had read that "Too Long to Read" healthcare reform, all while my wife laid unconscious in the ICU. I have been a LPN that worked in long term homes and in medical needs foster and group homes, there where many sicking things seen that the old system that the GOP wants to keep alive was doing.

I just pray we wake up before it is to late.

I try hard to develop tolerance, accept people and what they believe. Just being part of the continum. But really, how can anyone so ridgidly biased represent we the people in higher office? Maybe her district, but not the country.

Anyone who's been unlucky enough to live within a stone's throw of her whacky jurisdiction can tell you that Bachmann has actually been running for president ever since her election to the Stillwater Schoolboard. In this regard she shares an ironic affinity with a certain young Illinois state senator selected to give an inspiring keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

Finally, “Atlas Shrugged” for Michelle Bachmann. Now she and her T-Party ilk can take their Ian Rand novels and go off to a distant island and bask in a pure as the driven snow, unregulated and unfettered capitalistic economy. There will be no taxes, or unions, or social programs. They can found a utopia, where there is no disease, or poverty, or need to sacrifice their personal agenda for the sake of the poor or incapable because there will be none. It will be heaven on earth for them; a monument to the individual.   We’ll go back and check on their progress in about fifty years. …You know what we’ll find, …one of them will have all the money and the rest will be working for him.

I've been hearing "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday" by Boyz 2 Men and "Crazy" by Patsy Cline in my head all day.   In tribute to the real Michele my brain has been playing both of them at the same time at double speed while showing me footage of gay people rampaging and murdering Jesus which is exactly what Michele sees/hears all day every day in her own brain.
