Tim Olmsted, sixth grade teacher, allegedly discriminated against black students for months.
A sixth grade teacher at a St. Paul public school is allegedly a raging racist.

According to a WCCO report, Tim Olmsted, a teacher at the Heights Community School on St. Paul's East Side, told the five black students in his class that they are "fat, black, and stupid" and made them sit in the back of the classroom.

Olmsted is currently on paid leave. An education attorney representing three of the families involved has sent a letter to the school district demanding that Olmsted and the school's principal be fired.

Lastasha Tolbert's daughter is in Olmsted's class. Tolbert said Olmsted told her sixth grader she'd be standing on the street with a sign begging for money.

"He told the entire class that it is easier for him to teach rich white folks than poor black people," she said.

Tolbert said she took her concerns to the school's principals more than a dozen times, but nothing changed. So she transferred her daughter into another class.

Now, an attorney is involved, and Olmsted has been placed on paid leave for more than two weeks while the St. Paul School District investigates.

If the allegations are true, it raises the question of how guys like Olmsted get teaching jobs in the first place. Did he really think he'd get away with blatant racism in the classroom?
