Mason is a proud Native American and stud hockey player.
Detroit Lakes senior Alex Mason hopes to continue his hockey career next year on a Canadian junior team. Saturday, he faked a goalie out of his pads while scoring an NHL-caliber short-handed goal.

Mason is an interesting kid -- he rocks flowing long hair as a tribute to his Mahomen Indian roots and lives on the White Earth Reservation, but attends class at the nearby Detroit Lakes High School.

Below the jump is video of Mason's goal, which Yahoo calls "one of the most spectacular goals of the calendar year, at any level of hockey competition":

No doubt, that's the best goal I've seen from a Minnesota high schooler since Adam Banks tore it up in the Goodwill Games.

It's laudable to be a "proud Native American", but if you are a "proud white American" then you are an EVIL RACIST!!!!

Nobody cares WLaN. Go jerk off to Rush Limbaugh's web site or something. Just make sure to be full of hate, propagandist aphorisms and irrational fear while you do it. Pathetic loser.

It's kind of difficult to see what's so special about the goal from the angle of the video. Did he lift the puck up on the back of his stick blade? Because that would be cool and difficult.

You kidding? He pretty clearly jukes the goalie, cradles puck with his stick, lifts it, then gently inserts puck into the top corner of the net. Makes a difficult score look absurdly easy.

I guess my eyes are going bad from looking at computer screens all day. Now that you laid it out, I can see what he's doing more clearly. And yeah, that is insane, especially since he makes it look like he's done it a thousand times. I feel bad for that goalie.
