Santorum appalls Macalester President Brian Rosenberg
Macalester President Brian Rosenberg is appalled by Rick Santorum.

The liberal arts college bigwig has come out against the Republican presidential candidate despite the potential for alienating his conservative alumni. Rosenberg spends part of a recently-published essay ruminating on the responsibilities of a university president, and says it's generally a bad idea for university presidents to get involved in politics.

But Rosenberg concludes that Santorum threatens the fundamental educational mission of Macalester, so he's speaking out.

Rosenberg cites two recent statements from Santorum as proof that he's dangerous to the university's mission.

First, Rosenberg quotes Santorum saying that global warming studies are bogus and that they're "political science," not actually science.

Santorum continued by blasting the scientific community.

"When it comes to the management of the earth, they are the anti-science ones. We are the ones who stand for science, and technology," Santorum said, offending Rosenberg.

The other offense against education Rosenberg cites comes from an interview the ex-senator did with Glenn Beck recently.

"I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely," Santorum said. "The indoctrination that is going on at the university level is a harm to our country."

Rosenberg goes on to explain that he feels a responsibility to criticize Santorum for thinking college is "bad for our country."

So, Rosenberg reasoned in the essay, reprinted by the Star Tribune: donations be damned!

"I am appalled by the views of Rick Santorum," Rosenberg wrote, before joking that he needs to go check on the water flow in the indoctrination mill on the northeast corner of the Macalester campus.

Ironic that the President of Macalester is offended because a presidential candidate questions his universities science. Rosenberg doesn't defend his University, no he is just offended. Higher education at Macalester must not teach to validate, peer review and question. Just take Rosenberg's comments. This is exactly what the candiate questions.

Rosenberg goes on to admit he watches Glenn Beck. Now that will get the liberals pi$$ed and him fired from his elite position. Maybe Rosenberg can then run for office.

I think it's fair to say that we all share Mr Rosenberg's sentiment. Ricky is not much of a candidate at all.

Ha, Macalester college having an opinion on conservative republicans? You mean the school which 99% of it's student body are bleeding heart liberals. What's wrong liberal turd, does the big bad conservative frighten you?

Do you think this guy has ever been a Republican? My guess is he has not; so we can just chalk this statement up to ignorance. One typically knows little about something they have never personally experienced.

Rick is 10,000 times better than Obama who is leading us into a depression. Gas at $5, milk, bread all more, still 15,000,000 former workers without jobs, Obama is Antil-Catholic. Santorum doesn't think all universities are bad just the type you head up.

I demand an apology from Macalester and demand they fire their President for his hate speech.

Yes, one can only be a Republican before ever having an opinion about them.  Brilliant logic, Kirk.  Wow.  With this post, you just set back not only conservatism, but really all of political discourse and logical thought by about 100 years.  Congrats.

Also, is it any wonder that the lame conservative troll uses an avatar from one of the least funny shows in TV history?

Your scramble of words is like pieces of IKEA furniture dumped out of the box and left to someone else to assemble.

I demand an apology from Santorum for saying that women signed the Declaration of Independence!

You are a stupid person.

Edit: By the way, could you please explain your math that brought you to the conclusion that Rick Santorum is 10,000 times better than President Obama? Is that an exact figure or just a ballpark estimate?

And I demand an apology for just having had to read your inane and mindless post.

Is this meant to be satirical or are you serious?  At what mythical place did you spend $5 a gallon for gas?  Yeah, you didn't.  And which policy of Obama's has taken jobs from farmers?  Oh, none, because that trend started during the Bush years.  And how is Obama anti-Catholic again?  Right, he isn't.

Santorum is making it all up as he goes along, saying stupid shit to get himself in the news.  It's a page right out of the Bachmann playbook.  When Santorum says that anyone who aspires to go to college is either elitist or runs the risk of being indoctrinized, he is an idiot and deserves to be called on it.  When he questions proven science and then claims to be the one on the side of scientific thought, that is idiotic and he deserves to be called on it.  And when he purposefully misrepresents the point of a JFK speech in order to prove his point, he is an idiot and he deserves to be called on it.

So, in short, you are an idiot.  And you have now been called on it.

....and one of the most liberal TV show creators - Seth MacFarlane! He refuses to accept the irony, however. That would require at least a shred of humility... but he has no room for that with all the hate in his life.

Ha ha! There's so much hate in you, you feel the need to steal the handle of the guy who continually out-debates you and use it in an attempt to make him look bad.

Teasing you never gets old, because deep down, no matter how much self loathing I have at any given time, I know that at least I'm not you. I want to say thanks for that.
