I see alot of finger pointing and other name being dragged in this which is sad, lets not lose sight of what this articule is about these young men are in jail for a reason. As for Janet I cn understand one of these men are your son and I feel bad for you no mother wants to see there child in prison, but running with gang and dealing drugs, and everything that goes along with that DOES NOT sound like contributing member of soceity. I just hope and pray these young men can get there lives together once they paid for there wrong doing. If the native people could work together and forget there own personal agendas maybe we all can make a difference.

My son GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. Signed up for College at DUNWOODY INSTITUTE!! He wants to be a contributing member of society, get a College Degree, Pay taxes, get married and have a family he can provide for. HIS NAME IS LANCE HANKS!! He has one tri-mester of college credits from DUNWOODY-FALL QUARTER 2011!! He was supposed to start the next quarter JAN.10TH 2012. Went to jail on JAN.6TH 2012. He is a GOOD GUY, HAS A GOOD HEART--- Not all these guys are bad as they sound. Just a few make it sound awful. LANCE HAS A MOM AND DAD, SISTERS, BROTHERS, AUNTIES, COUSINS, AND REALLY GOOD FRIENDS. What a lot of people don't understand...is the Native Mob is here to stay..they say there are about 200 members of the Native Mob..good guess on there part..I have been in and out of prison since 1995 have done about 10 years now...it has taught me a lot in life and has helped me become a better person....I am will always be Mob till I die...in prison who do you think takes care of the elders and make sure there safe the Mob thats who...just because there in prison does not make them a bad person...they just made a bad choice and had to pay for what they did...people are getting 5 years for DUI...I bet 90% of the people commenting on here drive while intoxicated..Native Mob hated by many loved by few...thats ok with me Fam till I die!

Good thing they got caught but- this doesn't help our community- it just makes more non native people look down on anshinabe people. Making it look like little earth is a breeding ground of the native mob gang. Maybe if native Americans were more recognized positively in the community - we wouldn't have these young men looking for acceptance in gangs. I am glad they are off the streets, cowards is what they are. They tried to kill my cousin on 2 differant occassions. 3 jumped him and stabbed him numerous times, didn't work he did not die. So next move shoot at him when he was with his 5 year old daughter. Heard he was making Native Mob look a fool so there was a hit put out on him. Others in our area were victims to them, never one on one. Always ganged up on or the NM boy pulled a weapon. Boys who can't stand on their own 2 feet. Selling drugsto their own people. Teaching violence and intimidation to our youth is not what real men do. These are cowards and criminals. Every race has them. Nothing special about these ones. These charges and this takedown is a great accomplishment, but it will not change much at all. There will be recruits or the next in line will step in and take over. And the cycle will begin again. But at least something was done. And sorry it took so long but also glad the feds took their time and got the most out of the investigations, hopefully they will all get maximum penalty.

Most "circles" turn there backs on young men like these guys... which is why they join gangs. They see some sort of spirtuality or cultural belonging with groups like these. Hey like it or not our culture is a warrior based culture. Who at powwows are the most honored? The veterans..or Ogitcheedaa... warriors right? So its been inplanted into our mentality that the warrior culture is our culture. Its just that these young men have a skewed knowledge of that culture and create there own ways to interperate that culture. Why...hmm??? Because no one is there to step up to teach them the right way to be a warrior..ogitcheedaa but organizations like the native mob. So we as a people need to..Have to step up if we want a change for our young people. I'm sure in 1862 them Dakota did so atrosities too.. why cuz of the conditions they faced at the time. Sure 38 where hanged but its a general consensues some were innocent.. But yet we honor them at powwows??? How do we know some of these young me aint innocent? Or were just reacting to the conditions they face up on them reservations? Why dont we have alternitives for these young people? why dont we have a program set up to help these young people before they reach prison?

How come The Native Mob can set up a system to recruit kids in almost every reservation to do dirt but we cant to do positive things? Seems with all the resources out there someone will come up with a solution or at least try? wheres the F#CKEN effort? Ya'll must be Minneapolis natives where not even the elders there know their culture, the kind of elders that expect everything to be given to them and want people to kiss their asses just for being old. Not cool. But there is a place where these young men could have turned to, IF they wanted the help. I know of at least one man who would gladly take in ANYONE who wanted help and wanted to know our ways, and actually has already done so. His name is Lee Staples, most awesome man you'll ever meet, no lie. At least 3 of these young men came from my rez, Mille Lacs, and I believe at least one of the reasons they became involved in gang activity is to prove to either themselves or others that they aren't scared of nobody or nothing. Guys like feeling tough and also knowing that other people will have their backs if anything should go down, which usually happens because people are constantly trying to prove themselves to others, and the easiest way to do that is through violence.

yeah we know lee staples very well, he does many ceremonies around fdl community but REFUSES to help ANYONE that in involved w drugs or alcohol, and often hurries with his ceronmony or turns it over to kevin dupuis who was white his whole life and lets him finish so lee can take his money and run rt to the casino and sit there till his nxt appt. where he will take $300 from a poor native who cannot afford it to come out and burn some sage which any of us can do, or send one of his white ( kevin dupuis ) or should say white till he found out there was money involved then became the almighty! this man sickens many of us but because they're are so little left that can speak our native tongue have no other choice to choose lee and his money making crew! anyone with a true native heart would never charge an elder or put a price on doing a ceremony to try to help their people! whatever happened to offering some tobacco and a small gift or even some gas money! but nope! lee staples puts a large price on his services which goes to show what kind of hear he really has! and has turned young people away because they used drugs or alcohol! so no, lee staples is not a true sincere native, we have to go to canada to find help without a price tag on it! just a few bucks for gas and a gift of tobacco and maybe a blanket or so, but lee has a large price list for everything he does, including a room at the casino so he can spend up the money he just made off our elders!

many people cant see the painted propaganda picture for what it really is...i personally seen Lee speak to many of these young warriors while I was doing time with them in rush city prison. He spoke of taking a path that was meant for us...bimadiziwin... I see many of our brothers and sons swallowed up by a way of life few people understand...unless you lived it you wouldnt know! As he spoke he convinced alot of brothers like myself to change the way we were living. These young gentlemen were given the same choice but ignored it. They knew the consequences and now creator is making them pay. Lee spoke of this in a way so that none of us would misunderstand .And he still wouldnt turn his back on them and neither would I because some news article says they are criminals...more light is bieng shined on this thru the media than most other issues. Painting an awful picture to get votes and recognition is so cowardly. And to top it off its just promoting the issue because other young native males see this and think its cool making them want to be in a gang even more so they get the recognition even if its bad...see the picture for what it is and not what they want you to think it is...theres more good native American males than what stories like this really show
