Bachmann: Contraception mandate step toward one-child policy [VIDEO]

Bachmann: If Obama can impose contraception mandate, one-child policy "isn't beyond the pale."
Michele Bachmann is concerned the Obama administration's contraception mandate is a step down a slippery slope toward a China-style one-child policy.

She expressed this concern during a Tuesday night appearance on Glenn Beck's online TV show, "Real News From the Blaze" (video embedded below).

Bachmann's logic goes something like this: Since Health and Human Services Director Kathleen Sebelius has said one virtue of the contraception mandate is the role it can play in preventing pregnancies, the Obama administration apparently has an interest in population control. And since a one-child policy is a way to control population, it doesn't seem like an Olympic-sized leap to imagine that the slippery slope from mandatorily available contraception could lead to a one-child policy. Or something.

Anyway, here's what Bachmann actually said, courtesy of Politico:

Might Twin Cities streets soon be adorned with propaganda placards of this sort?
"Going with that logic, according to our own Health and Human Services secretary, it isn't far-fetched to think that the president of the United States could say, we need to save health care expenses -- the federal government will only pay for one baby to be born in the hospital per family, or two babies to be born per family. That could happen. We think it couldn't?"

Asked if she was suggesting that Obama was going to follow a China-style one-child rule, she said, "I'm not saying that he is going to do it, I'm saying that he has the power and the authority to do it."

She said, "What I'm saying is that now that we know the president of the United States unilaterally can tell insurance companies, you must offer the morning-after abortion pill, you must offer sterilizations, you must offer contraceptives free to the recipients of those products, because we tell you to -- which means they're effectively setting the price, as well ... the health care dictator, could conceivably make that order, as well."
Could the contraception mandate really be a step toward liberty-crushing Beijing-style tyranny? We hadn't thought about that, being as preoccupied as we are pondering all the consequences-free sex we'll be having once birth control is readily and cheaply available to everyone.

What's wrong with a one child policy anway. I'm tired of these unfit parents poppin kids out to collect more welfare. You should have to apply for a permit in my opinion to bare children. You should be qualified as a parent first. Can I get a hell yes?

It's no different than an employer mandating all employees, regardless of religion, eat a pork sandwich for lunch every day. Fuck the terrorists.
