KARE 11's Eric Perkins dozes off on camera during the weather [VIDEO]

Rena Sarigianopoulos serves as Perkins's human alarm clock on live TV.

Don't get us wrong -- we love us some Eric Perkins.

In fact, yours truly has been known to occasionally guest on KTWIN's Eric Perkins and Tony Fly morning show. So it is with the most delicate of fingers that we poke fun at him.

Bottom line -- this video is just too funny to ignore. During a 10 o'clock newscast ~~last month~~ last year, Perkins was caught napping on camera as Sven Sundgaard wrapped up the weather.

The video was recently picked up by Funny or Die, prompting Perkins to offer up the following tweet this morning:

In fairness to Perkins, we imagine it'd sometimes be tough to stay awake when your typical day begins with a radio show that goes on the air before the sun rises and ends with a news telecast that wraps at 10:30 p.m.

You also have to admire the smoothness with which Perkins handles the on-air wake-up call from co-anchor Rena Sarigianopoulos. Rather than get flustered, he displays remarkable improvisational skills by turning the unplanned cat nap into a mini comedy routine.

CORRECTION -- As noted above, the clip is actually from 2011. It's still funny, though.

Ya know there are times that it seems Eric is just a little stoned--on life? So here's proof I guess--clearly nodding off during Swen's weather report which wasn't exactly scintillating, but hardly worthy of a cat-nap---watching him try to cover for himself--quite ineffectually I may add, made it very funny, albeit lame!

You're right, my bad. When I watched the clip, 2011 somehow registered in my brain as this year. Guess I'm getting old and all the years are bleeding together. It's fixed, appreciate you pointing that out.

It's an easy mistake, considering it was around this time last year when it happened. The giveaway was Sven, he switched to the morning show towards the end of last summer.
