Edina is the best we've got, according to Newsweek.
'One-fifty-four! One-fifty-four!'

That's not exactly the stuff of legends, but it represents the national ranking of Edina High, Minnesota's top high school according to Newsweek's new list of America's best 1,000 public high schools.

This year's list focuses on "schools that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads." It uses six inputs -- graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).

Newsweek's top five schools in the country, in order from one to five: the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Bowling Green, the School for the Talented and Gifted Magnet in Dallas, Basis Scottsdale in Scottsdale, the School of Science and Engineering Magnet in Dallas, and Basis Tucson in Tucson.

Here's Minnesota's top 10, along with their national ranks:

1. Edina (154)
2. Minnetonka (190)
3. St. Louis Park Senior High (290)
4. Lakeville North (294)
