Wesley Winston stole a car because his feet were sore

Wesley John Winston, 21, stole a car last Friday around 1:30 a.m. Unfortunately for Winston, it was a bait car parked by police.

The 1995 Nissan Pathfinder was parked at LaSalle Avenue South and 14th Street and came with a silent alarm, GPS, and internal video surveillance.

Less than 10 minutes after Winston pulled off in the car, cops stopped him and placed the young man under arrest. "Man, I should have just walked home but my feet were sore," Winston said, according to police.

Winston has been charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County.

He faces a maximum five years in prison.

And people think that it's racism that leads to an overwhelming majority of blacks in prison. Nope, it's got nothing to do with race, or even wealth. It has everything to do with class. In my walking days, I've contemplated it. I don't know about other cities but the public transportation around here sucks. Too bad he actually did it. Dudes 21 facing a 2nd felony. Good luck at that job interview.

Public transportation here may not be perfect but it is better than nothing. I think it is the people who ride public transportation that makes it an unpleasant experience. As for the would be car thief, he could have just walked over to Nicollet Mall. I know. I used to live in that area. The nearest bus stop was within a block or two. What a dummy.
