Cindy Pugh, candidate for state rep., compares Muslim women to garbage bags

By "traditional Islamic garb" you mean 'burqa,' the head-to-toe body covering that all women are required to wear in Fundamentalist Islam? And all good Western Liberals are, of course, for that, right? Just checking.

Like Bill Clinton, the man who actually worked for George HW Bush as the protector of a major dope smuggling operation? That kind of turd?

Written like a bigoted, hate-filled, intolerant "liberal".  Or is that what so-called Progressives do now. Wow.  Ms. Pugh seems to be rather appalled at the way Muslim women are denigrated. I guess you, Ms. Summers, think that's A-okay.  

Seriously!  Wow!  This is nothing more than a mutilation of the message because you were looking for something to attack.... or perhaps you think it's fine to TREAT women like they are trash so Ms. Pugh is wrong?  Her comment appears to be in support of Muslim, not some sort of bashing of them.

People, people, this comment was never made.  My how fast the hate comes back. Perhaps the commenters should consider their own comments. As someone who has know Cindy for many years, I can say she is one of the kindest people I know.   We hopefully all have the ability to read more than one source and use our cognitive skills to see what the truth is. For what it is worth!

Pugh doesn't compare women wearing burkas to garbage bags. She calls for women to have the courage to stand up for themselves and the freedom to wear what they want. How is that disagreeable?

I fail to see how her comments compared these women to garbage bags.  Seems to me she might have been comapring their clothing to garbage bags, if that even.  I got the feeling Cindy was trying to stick up for the rightsd of these women.  But I guess when you're a liberal, it's sometimes difficult to think clearly.

Cindy Pugh is "disturbed" by women and little girls being told to cover everything-- including their earlobes-- for if they show their earlobes and are raped, then it would be the woman's fault and the little girl's fault for tempting a man.  Any red-blooded American woman finds this disturbing as well.  YES- we have Freedom of religion (yet I'm sure most of lib readers of City Pages believe that forcing Catholic institutions to pay for birth control against their teachings is JUST-- because that's your little "take" on what Freedom of religion means.)  We also have Freedom of speech and Cindy Pugh said - that  it's "disturbing" (to see woman dressing this way in our wonderful free country-- just as I'd bet she'd say it's "disturbing" to have a young girl dressing sleazy.) So here are the frothing-at-the-mouth liberals-- good old judge and jury of all that is holy and right and just.  The comments on this page (multiples ones along the lines of "stupid bitch") are NOT misogynistic. You can wear what you want. No one's telling you that you can't. You live in a free country. Lucky you. Many muslim women do not live in a free country, like the ones who commit suicide rather than submit to a forced marriage, or the ones who are murdered by their male relatives for looking sideways at the wrong man or dressing wrong. You are equivocating between "white" killers not being a "white" guy's fault. Last time I checked Islam is not a race, but an ideology. A more appropriate comparison is Nazi's want to kill jews. If you walk around wearing a swastika, you are a nazi and are guilty of supporting the murderers, even if you've never killed a jew. It's clear islam is an ideology of barbarity, oppression, subjugation, abuse and many many disgusting practices, particularly against women as evidenced by EVERY SINGLE country where Islam reigns. Name one where that isn't true, you can't. So, if you are proudly muslim, but you are not actively protesting your murderous co-muslims, shame on you. You are guilty of supporting the worst of them.

Stop trying to scare people into not honoring their neighbors no matter what their faith! and stop promoting your fear tactics in order to control the masses! Its getting old and people can see straight through your desire for the spotlight! Get to know you're neighbors and stop dividing our nation! We are very diverse and in most cases Muslim people are not plotting to harm the innocent. This is not something that is promoted in Islaam. We don't harm you based on your beliefs so stop harming us!. If your goverment would have stayed the hell out of Muslim lands maybe they'd do the same. This nation have been terrorizing and capturing other lands since slavery. So, don't try to pin things on others who are really innocent. As far as those who wish to harm you, then deal with them. But to group all Muslims in one basket is racist, and shows your fear, lack of trust, and ignorance. So try getting from behind your computers and go out and live your life without fear of your neighbors or the unknown. This is not what True Americans should be about!!! smh

Sadly people who know nothing of the religion decide to say what ever they want. "All people are equal, as equal as the teeth of a comb. The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) has been reported to have said Alaikum bil Qawareer. The women should be taken care of as someone takes care of glass products. Glass is liable to break very easily if it is not care of, so is the delicacy in woman, and men must be careful not to injure her delicacy, because in her delicacy lies her beauty.

Hitler was a mass murderer, and yes, he was a Christian.  The other murderers you mention were serial killers. None of them committed their crimes for Jesus or for God, they were people raised and living in a Christian culture, but that does not make them Christian. And I'm not using the "no true Christian" argument. Becoming a Christian is an active thing, the person must actually CHOOSE to become a Christian, just growing up in a Christian culture and going to church at the direction of your parents does not make you a Christian. It is not the same as being Jewish, which is a familial and cultural thing, as well as a religious history. The difference between Christian and Muslim murderers is that Christians do it in SPITE of their religion and Muslims do it BECAUSE of their religion.  have never heard a single Christian or Jew say, "We must kill all Muslims because they do not worship the right God, and they do not respect our God." I HAVE heard Muslims say that all "infidels" must be put to death, which is to say, that all who do not agree with them deserve to die. Yes, they are extremists, but those Muslims who are not active extremists accept the ideas of the extremists as valid, so yes they are passively extremist.  All of your hysteria only proves that you don't believe in free speech for those who don't agree with you and that you are contemptuous of other cultures while demanding that your sub-culture be viewed as "better." It is better for YOU, and freedom of speech allows other people to agree or disagree. Christianity allows Christians to think for themselves, and anyone can become Christian, anyone can leave a church whereas your religion says you must not disagree with it, much less abandon or you will be apostate.  Well, I'm an apostate of Christian churches, yet I have absolutely no fear that I or any of my children will suffer any consequences except not being invited to the next pot-luck dinner at church. Now, of course, if you denounce some part of Islam or try to leave it behind, you could face having acid thrown on you, or have your nose cut off, or you could be killed because your father or brothers don't like how you act or dress. So it's understood that you MUST defend wearing a burka to prove to them that you are being obedient and subservient to them and Islam. My question for Muslims is why do you think Allah wants you to kill people who don't agree you? Is your Allah so weak that he needs you to do this? Is he so blind that he cannot see that you are faithful to him unless your women wear burkas? How does killing thousands of people who are completely innocent make Allah happy? The Bible says that God doesn't allow evil in his presence, so we can say we have done evil in his name, but he will reject those who are evil. Apparently, Allah really likes for people to kill one another. It took Christianity over 1400 years to start to understand that the Church is not God, and doesn't even represent God. The Catholic Church is a political entity that wanted to control its "subjects" (and still tries) much like Islam, but that all changed with Protestantism.  The Christian church is not the monolithic entity it once was and that's a good thing. It has continued to evolve. It would be great if Islam would evolve at least a little.
