Minnesota for Marriage quotes Bible passage saying gays "are to be put to death"

Minnesota for Marriage upped the ante in the gay marriage debate last night

The anti-gay marriage folks' Facebook page was updated last night to quote Biblical passage Leviticus 20:13, which reads as follows:

‎"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

The passage has long been used by anti-gay Christians to justify condemnation against gay people.

Last night's status update has prompted a long and heated discussion amongst supporters of Minnesota for Marriage and its detractors on Facebook.

Says Steven Lewandowski: "So now you actually want to put me to death? Too far, Minnesotans for Marriage, too far. There cannot be a civil debate in this state if this is how you're going to go about it. You should be ashamed."

Minnesota for Marriage's spokesman, Andy Parrish, a former chief of staff for Michele Bachmann who's a fan of oil wrestling, tweeted today that the page was "hacked." He says "garbage" was posted to the group's Facebook.

Some prominent gays, like SEIU Local 26 President Javier Morillo, are skeptical.
