MN for Marriage, anti-gay marriage group, says it 'continues to stand strong against intolerance'

MN for Marriage's spokespeople can't stop putting feet in their collective mouth.
Sometimes, you really just can't make it up.

Minnesota for Marriage is the state's leading anti-gay marriage group. Last night, someone posted the following passage from Leviticus 20:13 on the organization's Facebook page: "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

The group now claims the over-the-top post was the work of a hacker, although at least one social media expert doubts that explanation (as a Facebook commenter says, "bearing false witness is a sin too... one [that] actually made the tablets"). Whatever the case, Minnesota for Marriage has seen fit to distance itself from the 'gays will be put to death' rhetoric. But the language it has used to do that work boggles the rational mind.

First, you had Minnesota for Marriage spokesman Andy Parrish taking to Twitter and calling Leviticus 20:13 "garbage."

"My Twitter, Facebook, [and e-mail] were all hacked and garbage was posted on the [MN for Marriage] FB. I won't be intimidated," Parrish tweeted. Considering how often same-sex marriage opponents invoke the Bible in making their case, the "garbage" remark sounds shockingly similar to something Dan Savage might say.

Then, after strangely leaving the controversial Facebook post up for hours after the hacker was vanquished, Minnesota for Marriage finally deleted the Leviticus passage and posted the following status:

Parrish thinks at least one part of the Bible is garbage.
Friends- The Minnesota For Marriage Facebook page was hacked over night along with the Catholics for Marriage Matters MN account and other marriage supporter pages. We are currently looking into this and investigating the source of the hack plan to prosecute to the full extent of the law. We have re-gained control of this MFM page and are working on sorting out the other ones. Thank you for your support and we apologize for the confusion with the false posts from earlier. We continue to stand strong against those who preach tolerance but do not practice it (emphasis mine)
So now Minnesota for Marriage, the state's leading advocate of a constitutional amendment aimed at enshrining gays as second-class citizens, fancies itself as some sort of bastion of tolerance. Unbelievable!

Maybe they'll claim a hacker was responsible for the 'stand strong against intolerance' post too. After all, how else do you explain it and continue to believe that folks like Parrish are capable of rational thought?
