Steve Horner's Las Vegas ladies' night crusade hits a brick wall

Steve Horner: The arch enemy of ladies' night.
Steve Horner's latest battle in the war against Ladies' Night turned out to be a dead end.

Earlier this month, Horner called brimming with optimism to report that the Nevada Equal Rights Commission was going to facilitate mediation between him and several Las Vegas casinos, which he had filed complaints against for their ladies' night specials.

But it sounds like the meetings didn't go so well after all. According to Horner, three of the casinos declined to even show up, and the others didn't have any interest in negotiating. "They told me that I had suffered no damages."

Horner, a Minnesota native, has been fighting ladies' nights for more than two decades, arguing that the drink special constitutes "discrimination." He's claimed small victories along the way, but as far as civil rights battles go, his crusade hasn't exactly captured the passion of the mainstream.

Though the Equal Rights Commission ruled in his favor, Horner says, his case probably won't move forward without cooperation from the casinos. "There is no uproar with Steve white guy balding guy."

One more thought here from balding guy, white guy Horner. I am  absolutely overjoyed about Governor Scott Walker's successful battle for the Wisconsin  State Capitol during the recent recall election. His fight against individual entitlements(his is with employee unions, while mine is gender-based pricing)is what more and more of us must advocate  against in order to bring our families and nation back in order. Walker is a man(reminds me of the central character in my novel) who says what he means and means what he says and, thankfully, there are enough Wisconsinites who are there to support him through thick and thin. Bravo.

Here I am you apathetic, sympathetic, diabolitical denizens of know-nothing, do-nothing U.S.A.: good 'ol Steve white guy balding guy. Yes, I'm the one who represents the demographic who pays most of America's taxes, fights all of its wars, polices most of its streets, and funds all of its schools yet, when it comes to belly-up-to-the bar time, you slugs stop believing in equal rights because, in your heart of hearts, you sexist pigs, you believe women deserve favors and you need to get women drunk to get laid...pretty pathetic situation. Well, it's true I took a thrashing lately in Las Vegas by the phony feminist women who legally represent the casinos who speak equal rights out of one side of their mouth, only to speak of favors to women out of the other side, but that was only Round One.Now I'm working with a Nevada legislator to beef up the public accommodations law by integrating punitive damages of $2000 into each violation(currently there's not one red cent). Then we'll see which one of those feminist phonies are so damn arrogant in their high heels.Steve@stevehornerbooks.com

Dudes pay for all the drinks anyways. Ladies night just allows a creepy dude who only ever bangs drunk chicks who make poor life decisions to get laid for cheap.

How many people would show up to a "guys night"?  Aside from loser men that want to get drunk for cheap.  that doesn't bring in money.  Ladies night brings in money, that's why it happens.  It's like giving coupons for diapers to pregnant wormen.  Is he going to champion deals for diapers for men next?

I'm not a fan of lady's nights either. But mostly because it seems like an excuse for men to gather around women who are drinking lots, because it is free, in order to take advantage of their altered state.  Not because the poor men don't get to drink free too.

I agree with Steve. Just because I was born a guy doesn't give bars/clubs the right to charge me more . Equality is exactly that. If you start giving certain gender/ race/ age special perks it is discrimination. I am tired of pop culture putting females on the pedestal, while guys who don't agree are labeled ' not manly' or some other as antiquated stuff.

"There is no uproar with Steve white guy balding guy."Do you people have a proof reader? Editor? If so, they should be fired, this paper looks to be run by grade schoolers with all the titty shots and errors..

While I come from a different perspective of liberal democrat. I agree that both sexes should be treated equally. It is really insulting to men to treat them as somehow less by making them pay double, while women get a free ride. Women are all for equality, as long as they retain the old perks ( given to them to make up for sexism back in the day) ,don't register for selective service and overall treated as God's gift to the world. That's discrimination, and I encourage you to keep the fighting.

And you better avoid AARP, they have lots of deals based on age, another obvious discrimination. And what about kids eat free deals? Thats got to irritate you also.

Then go to a strip club. Or to bars/clubs that offers non-gender specified happy hour. Problem solved.

Do you want a bar full of guys or a bar with women there?  Ladies night is not just for the ladies.
