Mayor Rybak denies KSTP report that he may not seek re-election

Mayor R.T. Rybak took to Facebook last night to angrily deny a report by KSTP 5 Eyewitness News that he is considering not seeking re-election.

The story by the ABC affiliate seems to base its thesis on the flimsiest of evidence: 

The Mayor tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, in an exclusive interview, that he has not decided if he will seek a fourth term in November 2013. Mayor Rybak won election in 2001 and never indicated he would not run for re-election in his last two victories. This is the first time he has publicly stated he did not know what the future holds for him, or if he will run again.

Later, the logical gymnastics used to justify the attention-getting headline twist into even more convoluted shape:

We asked Mayor Rybak, if he would be interested in a job with the Obama Administration, if the President wins re-election. He didn't say "yes", but he didn't say "no", either. Mayor Rybak says he "lives in the City he loves and loves the job that he has." We did some research and found that was the same quote he used in 2009 when he was asked if he would run for Governor. Then, in less than a week after winning re-election, he filed papers to run for Governor.

The Mayor was not amused, if his Facebook feed is any indication. And he won't be any happier when he sees the comments pointing out how he misused "their" ...
