Ames Republicans had no idea they were actually voting for Andy Parrish.

Andy Parrish is taking credit for Michele Bachmann's victory in the Ames straw poll one year ago today.

If that counts as a valid inference, then here's another one for you -- Aaron Rupar won 15 Society of Professional Journalist first-place awards this year.

Parrish, who last summer worked as Bachmann's senior policy adviser before taking a job as Minnesota for Marriage's spokesman, offered up the following tweet earlier today:Fellow conservative Aaron Horak rightly called Parrish's BS out. "You ran for President last year? Man I never knew!" Horak replied.

If Parrish is taking credit for Bachmann's didn't-matter-in-the-grand-scheme-of-things victory in Ames, imagine how he'll react if the same-sex marriage ban is approved this November. It'll be like he personally broke out his pen and amended Minnesota's constitution by hand or something.

A couple of thoughts. First, @AndyParrishMN is too young to run for President of the United States. It even says so in the U.S. Constitution - something he and other conservative activists take great pride in knowing. Second, Parrish can't even spell experience correctly. I hope they have good copy editors at Minnesotans for Marriage.

"Facts" aren't terribly important to these people.  These guys routinely make stuff up, ridiculous on its face, and nobody ever calls them on it seriously.  When anyone even mentions it, they attack them and they usually just back down.  It's the "I know you are but what am I" argument, but it rules America, from this joker Parrish through Bachmann, LImbaugh; all of them.  Since the prominent media in this country exists to sell advertising rather than to tell the truth, nobody's going to put a stop to it.

@paigetastic Not to take anything away from Aaron, but after the last round of layoffs, I think he's the only political blogger left at CP.
