Wade Michael Page, Wisconsin Sikh temple shooter: Image circulating [PHOTO]

Some think Page might have confused Sikhs for Muslims, but thus far his motive remain unclear.
This morning, a photo of Wade Michael Page -- the 40-year-old U.S. Army veteran suspected of being the sole gunman responsible for the Milwaukee-area Sikh temple shooting that left seven dead yesterday, including Page himself -- began to circulate around the internet.

The photo was released by the Southern Poverty Law Center. In an accompanying article, the SPLC described Page as "a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band."

Here's the photo:

This morning, Reuters provides some details about Page's military career:
The man suspected of shooting and killing six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1998 for 'patterns of misconduct,' including being drunk on duty, military sources said on Monday.

Wade Michael Page, who served in the military for six years but was never stationed overseas, was a psychological operations specialist and Hawk Missile System repairman who was last stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

In June 1998 he was disciplined for being drunk on duty and had his rank reduced from sergeant to specialist. He was not eligible to re-enlist, the sources said.
And the SPLC provides information about Page's post-military white-power music career:
In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to "figure out how to end people's apathetic ways" and start "moving forward." "I was willing to point out some of my faults on how I was holding myself back," Page said. Later, he added, "The inspiration was based on frustration that we have the potential to accomplish so much more as individuals and a society in whole." He did not discuss violence in the interview.

Page told the website that he had been a part of the white power music scene since 2000, when he left his native Colorado on a motorcycle. He attended white power concerts in Georgia, North Carolina, West Virginia and Colorado. At various times, he said, he also played in the hate rock bands Youngland (2001-2003), Celtic Warrior, Radikahl, Max Resist, Intimidation One, Aggressive Force and Blue Eyed Devils. End Apathy, he said, included "Brent" on bass and "Ozzie" on drums; the men were former members of Definite Hate and another band, 13 Knots.

Love the Normalcy Bias and the fact people can be so Naive.Oh and look up knife attacks they happen all the time i know shocking. And because the govt can track bomb making parts and ingredients it won't happen, the Norway bomber had a farm he still stock piled fertilizer. We can debate this all day long. look at Mexico how's gun control working out down there again ? Some guns come from the US but not the heavy weapons the drug cartels use. Keep up the name calling works every  time not really.Have a nice week ,and go to your happy place when something bad happens.

Where is the outrage for all the other people murdered across this nation ?

This clown was in military psy ops, he knew what he was doing. Once again people focus on the tool this murderer used. Perhaps people would have been more accepting of this crime if he had blown up the temple or a knife attack that we see in the news ? How well did gun control work out in Norway  along  with a car bomb ?

I know it sounds cliche' to say this, but if the right wing media/Westboro Church/Tea Partiers would just stop all this propaganda and hate, HATE, HATE talk people wouldn't get so angry and decide to do shit like this. I hope this guy rots in whatever Hell he believes in, cause I don't give a shit what he believes in. If more people in the world were like that this type of blood shed wouldn't happen.

It sure is a good thing this white power asshole was able to easily get any guns he wanted.    We need new gun laws to make this type of slaughter impossible.  Guns shouldn't be allowed to fire more than one bullet without  a manual reload.  Every gun sold should require a background check.  No assault weapons, no high capacity magazines.  No easily modified guns that turn into full autos.   Victims of gun violence should be allowed to sue gun companies and gun sellers for irresponsible practices.  You pro gun people have blood on your hands.  How many more churchs need to get shot up?  How many more kids?   How many dead people is enough before you fucking idiots get it.  Guns make murder easier.  We don't need them in society.  Reasonable gun control could prevent this.

Wonder if Michele Bachman will comment, she likes to stir up division and distrust of anyone who is not a right wing "christian"...but can not accept that that sort of rhetoric helps create a climate of distrust and hate.

Murdering peaceful Sikh adherents because you don't know the difference between Sikh and Muslim is about as stupid and evil as invading Iraq because 15 Saudis and an Egyptian, a Lebanese, and a UAE citizen attacked your country.

@BBCMN You are such an idiiot its annoying.  You can't even write a full sentence.    Let's examine your dumb logic.  I'm not saying making a law will end all mass murder like this, I'm saying we as a society should make commiting mass murder as difficult as possible.  Guns make murder easier.   Laws don't prevent all crime, they are designed to reduce crime.  Murder is against the law but there are still murders.  Under your dumb logic we should make murder legal since the laws don't stop 100% of murders.   You cite Mexico like that ends the discussion.  Science is much more with my point of view.  1st world countries with strict gun control have much lower crime rates than countries that don't have gun control.  England, Germany, and Japan are all examples of this.   But who cares, you can't write a sentence I doubt you care about facts you stupid goof.

@BBCMN Well we have bomb control stupid.  You can't buy a nuke.  If you buy tons of bomb making material the cops track you.  It should be the same for guns.  Why do you need a gun that has the ability to shoot 100 bullets with reloading?   That ain't for killing deer.   Guns make murder easier.   No one needs a gun that shoots more than 2 bullets and needs a reload.   Why do you insist on making it easy to commit mass murder?   Not many people can kill 6 people with a knife.  Pretty much anyone can kill 6 people with a gun.  Don't be stupid.

So you are willing to hold the blood of all the innocent people on your hands who would not be able to defend themselves because of gun laws? If any person wants to get a gun they can you will never ever stop the evil from getting what they want. Maybe we should not have any people in the military to have guns or train with them. Maybe we should all just hold hands and sing together and wish bad people away. If there were a few conceal and carry at this place it would have never happened. You are a moron wanting to pretend guns will just go away they will not and the more power to take away from the people the more you must rely only on the trustworthy power loving government to protect you. You may have no sense of self-reliance but you nor any other person will take that from me or my family. And no reasonable gun control would not have prevented this look at history you sad sad delusional person.

Or it could have been the 16 UN resolutions Iraq ignored and the terrorists he aided. And how every nation on earth concluded he had wmds or at least gas he had already used to kill thousands but whatever it is all Bush's fault right.

@ludwitr If you are referring to the medias narrative, then I would remind you that this case was referred to as "domestic terrorism".

If you are referring to the narrative of racist comments, then I would remind you that white people make up 85% of the US population, so they are bound by numbers to make more racist comments.

Why is it that white people are the only ones held accountable for racism?

@ksands1 Yeah, actually both 9/11 and the Iraq invasion ARE Bush's RESPONSIBILITY, since he was president at the time.

The rest of your nonsense is just repetition of the lies being manufactured and circulated at the time to justify Bush's Oedipal invasion of Iraq. By the way, "Oedipal" is pronounced "EH-di-pal" and means that Bush only invaded Iraq because he was trying to show up his father, who halted the 1991 Gulf War at the Iraqi border because of a quaint dalliance with international law.

@SpringfeelPervert Because white people are the ones that had slaves, killed Martin Luther King Jr., and commited genocide against the Indians.  Are you really so stupid to think the racism against blacks and others in this country is equal to the racism against whites?   You are such a stupid asshole.  Read a book.   Martin Luther King advocated love, tolerance, and nonviolence and racist ass white people shot him in the head.  Seriously, how do you say such stupid and ignorant things.  Have you ever read a history book in your life stupid?  Shameful.

@ksands1 The Sikhs are a peaceful people that he targeted on purpose.  They would not have had guns.  That nut in Colorado targeted a movie for young people, college students and other poor young people can't afford guns.  Parents won't let children carry guns.  Who wants to bring a gun to a movie?      That nut in Norway targeted a summer camp for children of liberals.  He killed kids, not adults.  They had no one capable of protecting the victims.  Furthermore these gunmen planned for armed people.  That nut in Colorado was wearing body armor and used smoke bombs.  What are the odds a person with a gun would have hit just the gunmen in a dark theatre filled with screaming people and smoke?   Please explain how many kids you want to carry guns?  I don't want to carry a gun to be safe. I don't want to rely on an idiot who has never shot a gun before.   I want to fight a nutjob with a knife, not a fucking gun.   You are lying about that study.  England and Japan have strict gun control laws.  They have low crime and no gun crime.   Guns make crime easier.  They don't protect.  How exactly how can you prove violent crimes are prevented?   Please explain the methodlogy of that study.  It's made up nonsense by stupid liar gun nuts like you.

ludwitr

@ksands1  @SpringfeelPervert What do you mean you can ask me the same questions?  I didn't create a study to put information out there as 'fact'.  I'm asking for a source to see if that source is bias in the way they collected information or what information they collected.

Who made the comment in wikipedia?  How are they measuring crime deterrence?  Last I heard it was if someone else who had a gun was in an area with a criminal that didn't commit a crime.  That's not deterrence.

There are obviously no other variables in these states that have gun control laws what so ever, right?  So you're logically only testing one variable for scientific accuracy?

You actually have no idea if I believe they do or don't from reading this, I want to read the study and see if it's a valid study.  Otherwise I want to know where you live so I can sell you a tornado deterrent spray or a crocodile deterrent spray..respectively.

 @SpringfeelPervert

I can ask all the same questions of you. Do you have ties to the Dem party to the socialist party to the communist party? This is the problem with politics it tends to take the realness of the issue and stand it on its head. This comment is from Wikipedia you can look up the sources if you wish but Wiki defiantly leans left as most bastions of higher education do. The reality that having a weapon to defend oneself helps stop crime rates is indisputable. Easily look at states who have the strictest guns laws. They have higher murder rate becasue more criminals are not scared that law abiding citizens might have a means of stopping them. How is this not logical?? Most criminals are cowards.  If it is right wing to be logical then guilty as charged. I do not have to have a study to know what is real to life.

Surveys have suggested that guns are used in crime deterrence or prevention around 2.5 million times a year in the United States.[68][69][70][71]

ludwitr
ludwitr

@ksands1 who ran the study?  who funded it?  Where did they get the data?  how?  how can they measure that 800,000 violent crimes are the direct result of gun ownership and not by holding onto a rock, or owning a cain?  Explain this to me and you will have a somewhat plausible "reality".  Otherwise you're just spewing bullshit from a right wing talking point.

SpringfeelPervert
SpringfeelPervert

@ksands1 Who did this study? Did you research the group that posted this statistic? Do they have ties to NRA or GOP? These numbers mean nothing if they are not from scholarly sources that you don't include with the findings. (btw I am a gun owner)

Did you know that 3/4 of statistics are made up?

ksands1
ksands1

Study: Guns and Justifiable Homicide: Deterrence and Defense - concludes there are at least 400,000 "fewer violent crimes due to civilian self-defense use of guns" and at least "800,000 violent crimes are deterred each year because of gun ownership and use by civilians." Um yeah reality once agian is a pain.
