Amy Klobuchar "surprised" after Kurt Bills throws Bush tax cuts under the bus [VIDEO]

And, of course, U.S. Senate candidate Kurt Bills is a Republican. So it was surprising to see him angrily denounce the soon-to-expire George W. Bush tax cuts during a Duluth debate with Amy Klobuchar on Tuesday.
Bills, a high school economics teacher, also spent a good portion of the debate emphasizing the importance of public education and bemoaning large classroom sizes. Are we sure this guy isn't a DFL double-agent?
In fairness, Bills has to do something. Polling released about a week ago showed Klobuchar with a 19-point advantage, meaning she could probably slap a baby or two and still have margin to spare come November.
Here's a transcript of Bills' anti-Bush tax cut remarks and Klobuchar's reaction, followed by the raw video (via The Uptake).
Bills: The Bush tax cuts? The Bush tax cuts were terrible economic policy. You don't put temporary tax cuts in. What are you doing? You can't do that.
Reporter, to Klobuchar: I noticed Mr. Bills said he thought the Bush tax cuts were very bad economic policy. Did you hear that and what did you think?
Klobuchar: I was surprised because he has taken different positions along the way and he signed the Glover Norquist pledge back in June which basically says that you are not going to raise taxes. So I think you're going to have to ask him that, of how he squares signing a pledge like that and then talking this week about raising taxes. And that's fine, I actually admire people that change their position over time but this was in three months. You can change your position over a period of time when you see that economic times have changed or there's something that you need to do differently and not be rigid but this seems very strange to me when it was just three months ago and something you should ask him.
