A man discovered running around naked in a University of Minnesota neighborhood this morning has been taken into custody on suspicion of a stabbing.

  • Just after 5 a.m., police responded to a stabbing call near the corner of 15th and Como avenues SE, an off-campus neighborhood near the college's East Bank campus. Police found the victim nearby, along with the nude suspect, says Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Stephen McCarty.

Police are still trying to sort out exactly what happened, but believe the suspect was suffering from mental illness, says McCarty. "He was taken to the hospital for evaluation."

The victim was transferred to the Hennepin County Medical Center, and is expected to survive the attack. McCarty wasn't sure if either person involved is a college student.

We'll update as more details of this strange incident unfold.

So the police respond to a stabbing, and they blame it all on the crazy naked guy running around in the neighborhood.  Come to think of it, it's kind of hard to find fault with that assessment.
