Andy Parrish says war hero Rep. John Kriesel is a 'pretend Republican,' "all about John K"

Kriesel has been the target of harsh words from his fellow MNGOPers at least twice this year.
In May 2011, Rep. John Kriesel, R-Cottage Grove, gave an impassioned speech on the floor of the House of Representatives laying out why he's a Republican who proudly supports gay marriage.

So it's no surprise that Kriesel, who took a job as Anoka County's Veteran Services leader earlier this year after he announced his retirement from the legislature, is starring in a new Minnesotans United for All Families ad. What is surprising, however, is the way Andy Parrish, deputy campaign director for Minnesota for Marriage, reacted to the spot's release.

First, here's the ad:

The same day that was published online, Parrish and Kriesel -- a decorated veteran who lost both of his legs in Iraq in 2006 -- got into a Twitter spat. Here's some of the blow-by-blow:

Parrish's "John K is all about John K" remark comes months after Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake -- a candidate for a State Senate seat in the Albertville area this election cycle -- said Kriesel has "no courage" because he supported the Vikings stadium but decided not to run for another term in office.

The MNGOP sure has a way with words, doesn't it?

Gee, I thought the "marriage" amendment was about morality and not partisan politics.

The ugly face of this evil political movement has slipped again.

This amendment -- as the other "marriage" and "Voter ID" bills across the nation were pushed solely to drive as many sociopaths, bigots and other right wing Republicans to the polls.

So, Andy darling, will you be going after Sarah Janecek, now that she, a Republican, has declared herself against your stupid amendment?  C'mon, kid, you have to be consistent.

I know Mr. Kriesel, and I hope that he represents a better future for the GOP.

Why are we caring what Parrish says, now? (Charles, why are you denigrating such a valuable apparatus?)

being in favor of equal right means you are all about yourself?

Good thing John Kriesel has a great sense of humor (Parrish's funnybone might be pretend).I guess a no vote makes Sarah Janecek a pretend Republican too, after that beautiful homage to her uncle in today's Strib. Come to think of it, I know a lot of pretend Republicans . . .

This is the kind of vilification to be expected when somebody refuses to obey the party line. Republicans who obey principle rather than party ideology are quickly informed that their re-election campaigns won't be funded, and are driven out of the party. This is why the Minnesota Republican party is bankrupt and in disarray - partisan political correctness has reached the point where all the sensible persons have been driven out, leaving only puritan ideologues incapable of managing day-to-day affairs

Andy Parrish is the sleazy king of douchebaggery.

@A1batross I'm sure like to have a guy like John Kriesel with a D after his name.  Even if I don't agree with him 100% he seems pretty reasonable to me.  Unlike the Republicans we respect war heroes, ask Tammy Duckworth, George McGovern, John Kerry, and Max Cleland.
