Daily Caller report linking Amy Klobuchar and Petters "is old rehashed stuff," Ken Avidor says

A Daily Caller report alleges Klobuchar was corrupted by her financial ties to Petters.
On Friday, The D.C.-based Daily Caller published a report alleging "that U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar helped keep a multibillion-dollar Ponzi schemer [i.e., Tom Petters] out of prison in the late 1990s when she was the County Attorney in Hennepin County, Minnesota."

"Klobuchar used the power of her office in 1999 to ensure Petters was not charged with financial crimes," the report says, noting that Petters later contributed more than $120,000 toward Klobuchar's Senate run. "And despite significant evidence against him, she cleared the way for Petters to build his multibillion-dollar illegal empire by prosecuting only his early co-conspirators."

It's a pretty explosive allegation, right? But what the report only mentions in passing, says local political blogger and longtime Petters watcher Ken Avidor, is that Klobuchar is far from the only Minnesota politician to be sullied by a connection with Petters -- the list also includes Michele Bachmann, Norm Coleman, and Tim Pawlenty.

Avidor, who covered the Petters trial for City Pages, said he doesn't take issue with the substance of the Caller's report, but characterized it as "old rehashed stuff" and an "October surprise hit piece" intended to benefit Klobuchar's doesn't-have-a-chance U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Kurt Bills.

The links between Klobuchar and Petters have been known for years, Avidor said, as is the role that the Hennepin County Attorney's Office played in helping Petters expunge his criminal record during the 1990s.

"It's so disappointing, because the larger story is the influence money has on the political and justice systems," Avidor said. "The larger issue really is that people can erase their records if they are wealthy and powerful enough, and it happens all the time."

"Is it just Amy Klobuchar? No. There's lots of other people involved, and it's a mess," Avidor continued. "I hope someday people realize that we gotta get the money out of politics. Guys [like Petters] are very popular with politicians because they are throwing money around like crazy. Of course, looking back, we have to laugh, because it wasn't their money."

The solution, Avidor said, is publicly financed elections.

Something like the Petters Ponzi scam "is going to happen again, and that's why we have the crappy politics that we have, but nobody is talking about this," he said.

What childish take no responsibility reporting by Ken Avidor.

So let me get this straight.  One of those co-conspirators, Richard Hettler, told The Daily Caller that Klobuchar was aware of what Petters was doing, yet willingly accepted campaign donations from Petters’ company and its employees. “She took Ponzi money to get elected,” he insisted.

That is one huge smoking gun when you have Petters partner Richard Hettler saying Amy knew all along Petters was guilty and she did NOTHING as Hennepin County Attorney.   Not only did she not stop Petters when she had the chance now she is also an accomplice for doing nothing to stop the Second Fraud by Attorney Doug Kelly who while being Petters lawyer was through a corrupt judge also granted receivership of the Petters estate.  He and his lawyer buddies have been sucking the estate dry through lawyer fees for years now.

Amy you should be ashamed of yourself.  You are not MN nice.  You are Washington Lawyer/Politician Corrupt at best and you need to go.  Preferably to jail with Tom Petters and that Doug Kelly slime ball.

Huh, didn't I bring this money up about a year ago when Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar's were cosponsors of SOPA and PIPA.  A lot of people in here were pissed that their beloved democrats would author bills to take away basic internet freedoms.  I tried to connect the dots for people a year ago, but pure partisanship clouded their judgment.

Anyway, it’s like I have been known to say, follow the money people!

Here are some examples of the "donations" Tom Petters gave to Amy -

So, this should give you more of an idea of what was has been going on in the money dept.  I could post everything I dug up, but I'm looking at 6+ pages of "donations" coming from "Petters Group Worldwide and "Petters Consumer Brands".  And with these particular "donations" coming so close to  to Tom's indictment, do you think Amy's gave any of this money back?  And I'm sure Amy Knew full well this money could have been stolen from some little old lady or charity.

Headline:  Amy Klobuchar uses money stolen from little old lady to fund her campaign.

I hadn't thought Tucker Carlson could get any more smarmy and disgusting, or lower his reputation any further, but that was before he started "Daily Caller."  What a cesspool.  No standards at all.  Once the Republicans get their act together and chase out the sadists, we'll never hear from Tucker again.  He'll become a Brodkorb on the national stage.

So Klobuchar's defense to her terrible actions is the always pathetic "Well....everybody else was doing it too" technique. People used to scold me for using that defense in 2nd grade.  Please God, don't ever let this lady defend me in a court room.

@citypages wins the consolation prize for being the first MN media outlet to cover the Klobuchar/Petters story, but gets it wrong. #fail

What the @citypages fails 2 point out is that @amyklobuchar had enuff evidence in 99 2 prosecute Petters, but instead went after his cohorts

@Liberty101 So. Funny thing.. I was reading the various articles available online for this story, and I noticed that you pasted identical comments in response to several of them.

This kind of repetitive motion will give you carpal tunnel, and also makes you smell kind of like a junior staffer for Kurt Bills that's paid for deceitful tactics.

So, save that hand, okay? you'll need it for 'batin Bills later while he's using his own tears as lubricant.

@JackTomczak @Avidor I'm not claiming he is, but he apparently covered trial for CP. Like I said - "old news" seems to be the MSM narrative.
