Ronald Sims and Dee King allegedly used million-volt stun gun to rob Craigslist laptop seller

Sims (left) and King (right) took a stun gun to a Craigslist computer seller in a Burger King parking lot, police say.
Early Sunday (exactly what time isn't clear), Jeff Hanson met Dee King in the Burger King parking lot at 695 East 7th Street in St. Paul. King and Hanson got in touch on Craigslist, where Hanson was looking to sell his laptop computer.

SEE ALSO: Craigslist murders: A timeline

King, a paroled bank robber, exited his blue SUV, got into Hanson's car, looked over the laptop, then left to get money while Hanson stayed in his vehicle. He returned with an accomplice named Ronald Sims and a million-volt stun gun.

The Star Tribune provides details about what happened next:
Hanson took out his cellphone and had his wallet in his lap, intending to show King his identification to verify that the laptop wasn't stolen. King returned to the car with a man later identified as Sims, who carried a large object in his hand.

Hanson later told police that he felt as if he "had been zapped by electricity."

"Hand it over!" the robbers repeated before snatching his laptop, wallet and cellphone. They left in the blue SUV.

Hanson tried to follow them but stopped and went into the Burger King to call police. He had two puncture wounds on his forearm and scratches.

Officers stopped a blue Chrysler Pacifica at W. 7th and Leech Streets. It had a license plate with numbers close to what Hanson provided, and he identified the two suspects as the men who robbed him, the complaint says.
As BringMeTheNews details, the St. Paul incident is the latest in a strong of Craigslist transactions gone wrong:
In August, a Maplewood man was charged after he allegedly shot and killed a 19-year-old Hamline University student who responded to an ad on Craiglist for an iPhone.

Nationally, a trial is in progress in Ohio involving a 17-year-old who's accused of fatally shooting three men lured by phony Craigslist job offers.

[After the St. Paul incident] Ramsey County Attorney John Choi once again warned consumers Tuesday to take care in online transactions that have been tied to a rash of robberies.
Perhaps it's another reason Best Buy's management should be optimistic about the company's prospects of returning to the realm of the living -- at least you can buy a laptop there without fear of being stun-gunned or shot.

Both Sims and King have been charged with first-degree robbery.

I use Craig's List to get rid of household stuff I would otherwise throw away.  I'll lug the stuff to the alley, and put up a notice to "Come And Get It" with a photo.  It's usually gone in an hour or less.  I've never actually bought or sold anything that way.  Putting an ad up is like illuminating the Bat Beacon, but to crazy people.  The number of people who don't understand that when you say "Come And Get It," that means you won't rent a truck to haul it from South Minneapolis to their home in Maple Grove is kind of amazing.

I would be very leery of selling anything small, portable and of value on the street via Craig's List.  Too much contact with too many crazies.

Craigslist is actually pretty safe.  Your SUPPOSED to meet someone in a public area with people, not a burger king parking lot

Let me guess.

These 2 fine examples of humanity will vote for Obama.

After all, they weren't robbing anyone, they were simply redistributing the wealth.

Apparently, Jeff Hanson wasn't paying is "fair share".

@truckmeyer  Well, crack don't smoke itself.  The boys gotta find someway to pay for it.  I mean, it's not like they have jobs or anything.

ACTUALVICTIM
ACTUALVICTIM

@keny1  @Cynbin for you to post this is BS. I was there with both Ron Sims and Dee King and I am not mentioned in the "falsifed" police report because the suppose "victim" really attempted to rob me and I zapped him and persued to call the police in an attempt to get out of him trying to rob me. If you look at Jeffs record you will see a history of false information to the police as well as robbery. These two men are innocent and I have proof of that. So before you go running around and playing racial cards, please be prepared to come with actual facts.

@joejakubik @keny1 : what is the most powerful man in the world, who just so happens to be a racial minority, actually doing for racial minorities? The achievement gap has actually gotten worse under his reign. Have you ever thought it possible that the system actually doesn't want black people to succeed? Notice how I used "actually" a lot?

Look up income disparity and unemployment statistics by race and you'll have a couple of reasons why this is so. Also, if Obama wasn't faced with unprecedented obstructionism from the right starting with day one of his presidency, things would be a lot better. Look up Mitch McConnell's activities on Inauguration Day when he and 14 other traitors met to discuss how Obama would become a one-term president. In fact, McConnell publicly stated that gettinig rid of Obama would be their top priority; not jobs, not helping the American people, The next time you hear a Republican talk about how little Obama has accomplished during his first term think about how much he did accomplish in spite of the Republican sabotage. He sincerely planned to govern with bipartisanship, but from the very day he took office they were engaged in an unprecedented act of destruction. It may not be treason under the law, but it is treason in spirit. They deserve the contempt of the nation.

@joejakubik Look up violent crime statistics by race in America and you'll have your answer.  And no, my opinion of Obama would not change if he were white.  Like I said, I respect him as President, and I will continue to respect him when he gets re-elected.  As I said earlier, I just hope he can turn this nation around.  He has one more chance.  And he better do it right this time.  In the next 4 years, if he can reduce the deficit, create more jobs, and make life in America better for everyone, I will be the first one to bow down to his feet.  If not, then not.  When I voted for him in 2008, I honestly thought he would become the next Bill Clinton (the best President in my lifetime), but he failed.  So he gets one more chance.  But I will not place any bets.

I'm sure your grandma was a wise woman and realized what an asshole you were (are).  And don't forget, you're the one who turned a crime story into a political rant. Because we all know only poor blacks commit crimes, never wealthy white folks... Maybe you'd like Obama more if he was white?

keny1
keny1

@joejakubik As my grandma used to say: You can only speak out of one asshole, because God didn't give you two."

keny1
keny1

@joejakubik Your ranting is pointless.  Like I said, my vote means nothing.  Your hero will be re-elected, so why are you attacking me?

But a few things I would like to say.  First of all Obama did not kill Bin Laden.  Our military did.  The entire auto industry was not saved.  GM was.  On the backs of our tax dollars.  Yes, it saved jobs (good), but you talk about Romney and shipping jobs overseas (true), but then why does GM have assembly plants in Mexico and Canada?  Why should our tax dollars bail out a company that offered substandard products that could not compete on the global scale AND employ people in Mexico and Canada?  Who really benefited from the bailout? American workers or the low-wage workers in Mexico or Canada?  If you can show me facts that American workers benefitted most from the bailout, I'll give you that one.  But let's be real, the real benefactors of the bailout were GM execs and shareholders (those same "rich" people that you hate so much.)

And as far as class warfare is concerned, you Liberals always say, "the Middle Class built this country."  And that is true. However, who was it that gave them the jobs to build this country?  The guy making $50,000/yr or the guy who makes $1 million/yr?

And BTW, I do not listen to Fox News. For the exact same reason I do not listen to MSNBC.  I want to hear the truth, not political propaganda.  .

 @keny1

Class warfare? Do you mean giving huge tax breaks to the rich? Supporting special tax rules that allow someone making a million dollars a year to pay a lower percentage of their income than someone making $50,000? Do you mean giving tax breaks to those American Patriots like Romney who ship American jobs overseas to put a few more dollars in their own greedy pockets? (Look up Freeport, IL for one example)  Is that the "class warfare" you refer to?  Again, your comment is full of the usual Faux News talking points and yes, extremely moronic.  Obama will win because a majority of Americans believe he is turning around the huge stinking mess that the last Republican administration left America with - and doing this despite the obstructionism from the right.  And mistakes? Ending 2 senseless wars? Killing Bin Laden? Saving the American auto industry? Repealing DADT and allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military? I could go on and on but you know all this and are just too deluded to actually grasp any of it. Keep on hatin' - sounds like your area of expertise.

keny1
keny1

@joejakubik  Oh, I have no doubt Obama will win.  My "moronic comment" was just a sarcastic jab on the class warfare that Obama has incited.

Obama will win the Black vote (just because, well, you know, Obama is black)

Obama will win the Hispanic vote (amnesty to illegal immigrants right before the election).

Obama will win the gay vote (changing his stance on the definition of marriage right before the election).

Obama will win the Muslim vote (because most still think he's Muslim)

Obama will win the poor vote (less Welfare restrictions, more dependency on the Government, class warfare, etc.)

Obama will win the poor, single mother vote (see above)

Obama will win most of the middle class vote in blue states (obviously)

Obama will win the college-educated-but-got-a-worthless-degree-and-couldn't-find-a-job vote (aka OWS) because they are high of marijuana all the time and no clue about....well, anything.

He may not win the popular vote, but he will get enough electoral votes to squeeze out a victory (but a landslide it won't be).  Which is why I am not even going to bother to vote because Minnesota has already decided who they want as President.  My vote won't matter.

Even though I disagree with his politics, I sincerely hope he has learned from his past mistakes the last 4 years, and actually makes good on his promises.  Because if he doesn't, there will be major repercussions. And unfortunately, he won't be the one paying for them: we will.
