Details of the new ownership deal will be released this afternoon.
It looks like the rumor mill was true: Twin Cities businessman Bill McGuire will be revealed as the new owner of the Minnesota Stars this afternoon, according to the Star Tribune.

Formerly the CEO of UnitedHealth Group, McGuire tells the Strib he's no soccer fanatic, but sees buying the team as a means of "making a better community."

That makes McGuire an unlikely savior for Stars fans, who up until a couple weeks ago, feared the league would shut down the team if no one stepped up.

The Stars will officially introduce McGuire during a press conference at Brit's Pub this afternoon. Check back for more info on the new ownership deal then.
